Product Overview This circular scraper clarifier is designed to separate settleable solids from livestock wastewater after appropriate screening and upstream pretreatment. In a pig farm wastewater treatment system, it can serve as a primary settling stage or as a secondary clarifier after biological treatment, subject to the process design. A slowly rotating scraper moves settled sludge toward the central collection hopper, while clarified water passes over a perimeter overflow weir for further treatment or discharge according to the project requirements.
Key Features
  • Continuous bottom scraping helps collect settled sludge and limit accumulation on the basin floor.
  • Center-feed and outlet arrangements can be designed to promote controlled flow through the settling zone.
  • Optional surface skimmer collects floating scum for separate removal.
  • Scraper arms, bridge structure and wetted materials can be selected for the wastewater conditions and service environment.
  • Fabricated mechanical assemblies support coordinated installation with the concrete tank, pipework and farm wastewater treatment equipment.
Structural Components A typical arrangement includes an access bridge or support structure, drive assembly, center feedwell, rotating rake arms, adjustable bottom scraper blades, central sludge hopper, sludge withdrawal connection and perimeter effluent weir. A scum skimmer and scum collection box are available where floating materials must be removed. The final configuration depends on the tank design and treatment duty.
Working Principle Pretreated wastewater enters the feedwell and flows through the circular settling basin at a controlled rate. Settleable solids descend to the tank floor. The drive rotates the scraper arms, which convey sludge toward the central hopper for withdrawal. Clarified liquid flows to the perimeter weir. When specified, a surface skimmer directs floating scum to a separate collection point. Clarifier sizing and sludge withdrawal frequency must be based on the actual wastewater characteristics and treatment objectives.
Technical Specifications
Tank diameter and water depth According to project requirements
Design flow and solids loading Determined from wastewater data and process design
Bridge and scraper materials Customizable
Drive and control arrangement Available upon request
Surface scum removal Optional, according to project requirements
Applications Suitable for engineered wastewater treatment systems serving commercial pig farms, livestock production facilities, manure processing sites and agricultural projects. The clarifier can be integrated downstream of mechanical screening and other required pretreatment steps, or used for secondary settling after a biological treatment stage. Suitability for a specific manure wastewater stream should be confirmed through process evaluation.
Customization Options Tank interface dimensions, bridge layout, scraper configuration, corrosion protection, inlet and outlet details, sludge discharge connection and electrical controls can be specified for new pig farm construction or a treatment plant upgrade. Material selection and protective details are designed according to local climate, farm conditions and wastewater characteristics.
Installation & Maintenance Coordinate tank geometry, embedded supports, bridge connections, pipe penetrations and electrical supply before installation. Mechanical components are assembled and aligned on site, followed by checks of scraper clearance, drive rotation, sludge withdrawal and weir level. Routine maintenance includes inspecting the drive, scraper blades, skimmer, fasteners and corrosion protection, and clearing any buildup at the sludge outlet.
Product FAQ

Can the clarifier treat raw pig manure directly?
Raw manure commonly requires screening and other pretreatment before clarification. The appropriate process sequence depends on solids content and treatment goals.

Is a surface skimmer required?
A skimmer can be specified when floating scum is expected and separate scum removal is required.

What information is needed for a quotation?
Provide design flow, wastewater analysis, proposed treatment process, tank drawings or available footprint, site conditions and the required scope of supply.
