The Mechanical Screen for Livestock Wastewater is installed at the inlet of a farm wastewater treatment system to intercept coarse solids before they reach pumps, pipes, sedimentation tanks and biological treatment equipment. It is suitable for wastewater from commercial pig farms and other livestock facilities where manure fragments, feed residues, bedding fibers and miscellaneous debris may enter the drainage network.

Screen selection is based on the influent flow, solids load, channel geometry and the treatment process that follows. The unit provides preliminary screening; it does not replace fine filtration or complete wastewater treatment.

A typical configuration includes a support frame, screening elements, a motor-driven cleaning and lifting mechanism, an upper screenings discharge, mounting supports and an electrical control assembly. The cleaning mechanism and screening element are selected together according to wastewater characteristics and the approved equipment design.

Wastewater flows through the screen while solids larger than its openings remain on the upstream face. The powered cleaning mechanism lifts the retained material to an elevated discharge point for collection or further handling. Screened wastewater then flows to the next pretreatment stage. Automatic operation can be configured around the project control strategy.

Commercial pig farm wastewater inlets, livestock building drainage collection systems, manure wastewater pumping stations and farm wastewater pretreatment lines. The screen can be positioned ahead of equalization, sedimentation, solid–liquid separation or biological treatment, subject to the overall process design.

Available options include channel-matched dimensions, screen openings, material selection, discharge height, control arrangement and integration with a screenings bin or conveyor. For pig farm construction projects, the installation interface can be coordinated with the concrete channel, equipment platform and adjacent steel structure building layout.

Install the screen in a channel sized for the design flow, with suitable anchoring, safe access, electrical supply and space for screenings removal. Provide a practical route for lifting and servicing the equipment. During operation, inspect the screen surface, cleaning mechanism, drive, fasteners and discharge area; remove accumulated material and follow the maintenance instructions supplied with the selected configuration.

What information is needed for selection?
Share the average and peak wastewater flow, channel width and depth, expected solids, available discharge height, site power supply and downstream treatment layout.

Can it be installed in an existing farm channel?
A retrofit may be possible after the channel dimensions, water levels, access and anchoring conditions are reviewed.

Does screening remove dissolved pollutants?
No. Mechanical screening removes retained physical debris. Additional treatment stages are required for dissolved contaminants and wastewater discharge objectives.
