Product Overview The Livestock Wastewater SBR Treatment System uses a sequencing batch reactor to treat biodegradable wastewater from commercial livestock operations. After suitable solids removal and flow equalization, wastewater enters a biological tank where filling, aeration, settling and clarified-water discharge occur in a controlled sequence. The system can be designed for new pig farm construction or integrated into an existing manure and wastewater treatment line.
Key Features
  • Biological treatment and sludge settling take place in the SBR tank during separate operating phases.
  • Programmable cycles allow operation to be adjusted to wastewater flow and organic loading.
  • Intermittent aeration can be configured to support organic matter removal and biological nitrogen treatment.
  • Single-tank or multiple-reactor layouts are available according to project requirements.
  • Can be integrated with manure separators, equalization tanks and downstream polishing equipment.
  • Equipment access, pipe routing and weather protection can be planned for the farm site.
Structural Components A typical treatment line includes inlet screening or solids separation, an equalization tank, transfer pumps, an SBR tank, aeration blowers, air distribution piping and diffusers, a decanter, excess-sludge discharge equipment, level instruments and an electrical control cabinet. Tank construction, equipment supports and any steel structure building or protective enclosure are selected for the project site.
Working Principle Pretreated wastewater is fed to the reactor in batches. During the reaction phase, aeration supplies oxygen to activated-sludge microorganisms; selected non-aerated periods may support denitrification. Aeration then stops so the biomass can settle. A decanter removes clarified water from above the settled sludge, and excess sludge is withdrawn as required. The controller repeats the cycle according to the operating program.
Technical Specifications
  • Design flow and reactor volume: According to project requirements.
  • Influent: Pretreated pig farm, dairy farm or other livestock wastewater; suitability confirmed by wastewater analysis.
  • Tank configuration: Customizable.
  • Aeration, decanter and control arrangement: Available upon request.
  • Electrical supply and enclosure: Designed according to local climate and farm conditions.
  • Effluent targets: Established from influent testing, the complete process design and applicable local requirements.
Applications Suitable as a biological treatment stage for pretreated pig farm wastewater, dairy barn wash water, livestock housing wastewater and liquid streams from manure treatment. For wastewater with high concentrations of fibers, grit or suspended solids, appropriate upstream separation is required before the SBR stage.
Customization Options The reactor layout, pretreatment equipment, aeration capacity, cycle controls, sludge handling and downstream treatment can be configured for the farm's wastewater characteristics. Optional process stages may be evaluated where further nutrient removal, filtration or disinfection is required. Final selection depends on representative influent data and the intended effluent destination.
Installation & Maintenance Install the tanks and equipment on engineered foundations with access for lifting, inspection and sludge removal. Connect the inlet, treated-water outlet, sludge line, air piping and electrical supply before commissioning the biological process. Routine checks include diffuser performance, blower operation, decanter movement, sensor readings, sludge settling and control alarms. Operating settings should be reviewed when farm wastewater flow or composition changes.
Product FAQ

Can raw manure slurry be pumped directly into the SBR?
The SBR is intended for a suitably pretreated liquid stream. Required solids separation and equalization depend on the manure collection method and wastewater analysis.

Can the system be installed beside an existing pig house?
Yes, subject to site planning. The layout must provide suitable foundations, utilities, drainage and maintenance access without disrupting farm traffic or manure handling.

What is needed to size the system?
Provide daily and peak flows, representative COD, BOD, suspended-solids and nitrogen data, the existing treatment layout and the required effluent destination.
