Product Overview The Disc Cloth Filter for Livestock Wastewater is a compact filtration unit for polishing previously treated farm effluent. Cloth-covered discs retain residual suspended solids as water passes through the filter media. An automatic cleaning cycle removes accumulated solids and directs the backwash stream to a separate outlet. For commercial pig farms, the filter can be integrated downstream of screening, solid-liquid separation and the required biological or clarification stages.

Structural Components A typical system includes an inlet chamber, central feed drum, cloth-covered filter discs, a collection tank, disc drive, level sensor, backwash pump and spray assembly, solids collection trough, and separate filtered-water and backwash outlets. Working Principle Pretreated wastewater enters the central drum and flows through the cloth media on the discs. Suspended particles remain on the media while filtered water passes into the collection area and leaves through the effluent outlet. As retained solids increase flow resistance, a level sensor initiates disc rotation and backwashing. The wash water carries removed solids into a trough for return to an appropriate upstream or sludge-handling stage.

Can the filter treat raw pig manure wastewater?
It is intended for pretreated effluent. Raw slurry should first pass through suitable manure separation and other treatment stages.

Does the filter operate during backwashing?
Disc filter configurations can continue filtering while sections of the media are cleaned; the operating sequence depends on the selected design.
