Y-Type Feed Drop Diverter

Product Name Y-Type Feed Drop Diverter
Product Image Y-type livestock feed drop diverter
Product Overview

The Y-Type Feed Drop Diverter is a molded feed-line fitting designed to divide a single gravity-feed outlet into two branch directions within automatic livestock feeding systems.

Installed below a feed line, auger outlet or distribution point, the Y-shaped body provides a compact method for connecting two downstream drop tubes, feeder pipes or distribution branches. It is suitable for pig farms, poultry houses and other commercial livestock facilities requiring flexible feed routing.

The reference feed drop wye uses a plastic construction and a 3 in. × 3 in. × 3 in. configuration, and is specified for compatible M55 and M75 feed pipe applications. Final dimensions and connection interfaces can be customized according to project requirements.

Its simple non-powered design makes the component suitable for new pig farm construction, poultry projects, equipment replacement and steel structure building installations where reliable gravity-feed distribution is required.

Key Features
  • Y-Shaped Distribution: Divides one feed-drop path into two downstream branches for flexible livestock feed routing.
  • Compact One-Piece Body: Simple molded construction minimizes moving parts and supports reliable daily farm operation.
  • Gravity Feed Operation: Uses the natural downward movement of dry feed without requiring a separate motor or actuator.
  • Durable Plastic Construction: Suitable for routine exposure to livestock feed, dust and humid agricultural environments.
  • Low Maintenance: No internal drive mechanism means fewer components requiring routine adjustment.
  • Flexible Feed-Line Layout: Useful where one main feed outlet must serve two feeders, two crate rows or two branch lines.
  • Easy System Integration: Can be connected with compatible feed tubes, flexible drop tubes and feeder inlet pipes.
  • Retrofit Friendly: Suitable for replacement or modification of existing automatic feed-delivery systems where dimensions are compatible.
  • Project-Specific Options: Size, branch geometry and connection dimensions can be supplied according to project requirements.
Structural Components
  • Main Inlet: Upper connection receives feed from the primary feed-drop pipe or outlet.
  • Y-Shaped Body: Internal transition divides the feed path into two angled branches.
  • Dual Branch Outlets: Two lower connections direct feed to separate downstream lines or feeding points.
  • Molded Plastic Housing: Provides a lightweight, corrosion-resistant structure suitable for livestock feed applications.
  • Connection Interfaces: Designed to mate with compatible feed pipe or drop tubing according to the selected system dimensions.
Working Principle

Dry feed leaves the main auger line, chain-disc line, hopper or feed-drop outlet and enters the upper opening of the Y-type fitting.

Inside the molded Y-shaped body, the flow path separates into two angled outlets. Gravity then carries the feed through the connected branch tubes toward the required feeders, stalls or secondary distribution points.

The component itself normally operates as a passive distribution fitting. Where selective feed routing is required, shut-off gates, flexible tubes, valves or other control components can be installed in the downstream branches according to the feeding-system design.

Correct pipe sizing and branch arrangement help maintain free feed movement and reduce the risk of accumulation at the transition.

Installation & Maintenance

Size Verification: Confirm the inlet diameter, branch outlet diameter and compatible feed tube dimensions before installation.

Installation Position: Mount the fitting below the required feed outlet with both branch tubes arranged to allow smooth gravity flow.

Connection: Secure the inlet and outlets using the connection method specified for the selected feed line, including suitable clamps, sleeves or flexible transition tubing where required.

Branch Support: Long or heavy downstream pipes should have independent support so that excessive mechanical load is not transferred to the plastic fitting.

Inspection: Check periodically for cracking, loose connections, accumulated feed or deformation at the branch outlets.

Cleaning: During feed-line maintenance, remove residual feed from the Y transition and verify that both branch paths remain unobstructed.

Project Applications

In a typical sow-house installation, one main feed drop can be connected to a Y-type branch fitting so that feed is routed toward two downstream crate or feeder supply lines.

In poultry or general livestock projects, the fitting can also be used as part of a secondary gravity-distribution network beneath an automatic auger or chain-disc feed line.

Final branch layout should be designed according to feed characteristics, pipe diameter, drop height, feeder arrangement and required feed-flow capacity.

Product FAQ

Q: What is a Y-type feed drop diverter used for?

A: It is used to divide one gravity-feed drop into two branch lines so that feed can be directed toward two downstream feeding points.

Q: Does the Y fitting automatically switch feed between the two outlets?

A: The basic Y fitting is normally a passive branch component. Selective routing requires compatible shut-off gates, valves or downstream control devices.

Q: What size is the reference product?

A: The reference Hog Slat product is specified as a 3 in. × 3 in. × 3 in. plastic feed drop wye.

Q: Which feed pipe is the reference fitting compatible with?

A: The reference product is listed for M55 and M75 feed pipe applications.

Q: Can different diameters be supplied?

A: Yes. Connection dimensions can be customized according to the feed-line and downstream equipment requirements.

Q: Can it be used in pig and poultry farms?

A: Yes. Y-type feed-drop fittings are suitable for compatible automatic feed-delivery systems in commercial pig and poultry facilities.

Q: What information is required for a quotation?

A: Please provide inlet diameter, outlet diameter, feed-line type, downstream tube dimensions, feed type, required quantity and installation layout.
