Product Overview

Plastic Slatted Floor for Pigs is a modular livestock flooring solution developed for modern farrowing houses, piglet creep areas, nursery pens and weaner facilities. The slatted surface allows manure and liquids to pass into the collection pit or manure handling system below while providing pigs with a stable walking and resting surface.

The flooring can be integrated with farrowing crates, pig pen partitions, fiberglass support beams, galvanized steel structures, heating plates and other pig housing equipment. Modular panel layouts make the system suitable for new pig house construction as well as renovation and expansion projects.

Key Features
  • Durable plastic construction: Quality polypropylene-based flooring provides a non-corroding solution for humid livestock environments.
  • Efficient manure drainage: Optimized slot patterns allow manure and liquids to pass through the floor into the pit or manure collection channel.
  • Animal-friendly surface: Textured ribs and carefully designed openings help improve footing while maintaining drainage performance.
  • Suitable for young pigs: Plastic surfaces help reduce contact heat loss and provide a more comfortable floor for piglets compared with colder metal flooring.
  • Easy cleaning: Open-grid construction supports pressure washing, disinfection and rapid removal of organic material between production cycles.
  • Modular installation: Interlocking or closely connected panels simplify floor assembly and allow flexible pen layouts.
  • Project flexibility: Panel size, slot configuration, floor layout and supporting structure can be selected according to project requirements.
  • Commercial farm compatibility: Suitable for integration with complete pig housing systems in intensive and large-scale livestock projects.
Structural Components
  • Plastic slatted panels: Molded floor modules with drainage openings and an anti-slip surface profile.
  • Reinforcing ribs: Structural ribs underneath the panel distribute animal loads toward the support system.
  • Panel connection system: Interlocking edges, locating tabs or compatible connectors maintain alignment between adjacent panels.
  • Support beams: Fiberglass, composite or corrosion-protected steel supports can be selected according to span and project design.
  • Anchors and fasteners: Used where required for floor edges, pen equipment, feeders, drinkers or farrowing crate connections.
  • Optional integrated sections: Heating plates, solid resting sections, cast iron sow flooring or manure access panels can be incorporated into selected farrowing layouts.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

The plastic panels are installed above a manure pit, slurry channel or other livestock waste collection structure. The upper ribs provide the contact surface for the animals, while the openings allow urine, wash water and manure to move downward into the waste management area.

Loads from pigs and installed pen equipment are transferred through the molded panel ribs to the supporting beams or structural frame below. The modular connection system keeps adjoining panels correctly positioned and allows the floor to function as an integrated surface across the pen.

  • Install support beams or floor frames on a level and structurally adequate foundation.
  • Position plastic panels in the specified direction and connect adjacent modules securely.
  • Install edge supports, anchors and equipment fasteners according to the project drawings.
  • Check floor alignment, panel stability and all equipment fixing points before animals enter the pen.

Maintenance:

  • Remove accumulated manure and organic material during routine washing.
  • Use suitable livestock-farm cleaning and disinfection procedures.
  • Inspect panels, connections, supports and fasteners regularly.
  • Replace cracked or structurally damaged panels before continued use.
  • Do not exceed the specified design load or modify structural supports without engineering confirmation.
Product FAQ

Q: Which production stages are suitable for plastic slatted flooring?
A: It is commonly used in piglet creep areas, farrowing facilities, nursery houses and weaner pens. Heavy-duty configurations for larger animals should be selected according to engineering load requirements.

Q: Can the floor be combined with heating plates?
A: Yes. Heating plates or more solid resting sections can be integrated into selected piglet areas according to the farrowing or nursery house design.

Q: Can plastic slats be combined with cast iron flooring?
A: Yes. In farrowing pens, plastic piglet areas can be combined with cast iron or other suitable sow-floor sections to create different thermal and structural zones.

Q: Are panel sizes and opening ratios customizable?
A: Multiple configurations can be supplied. Final dimensions and slot designs should be selected according to pig age, pen dimensions, local regulations and manure management requirements.

Q: What support structure is required?
A: The floor can be installed on compatible fiberglass, composite or corrosion-protected steel supports. Beam spacing and load capacity must be determined according to the selected panel and project design.

Q: Does the slatted floor replace the manure handling system?
A: No. The flooring forms the animal-contact surface above the waste area. A properly designed manure pit, slurry channel, scraper or flushing system is still required below the floor.
