Product Name Low-Flow Automatic Float Valve
Product Image low-flow automatic livestock float valve
Product Overview The Low-Flow Automatic Float Valve is a compact mechanical water-level control solution designed for livestock drinking troughs, water storage tanks, cisterns and other moderate-demand water systems. Float movement automatically opens or closes the inlet as the water level changes, providing reliable replenishment without electrical controls.

Its compact, non-corrosive construction and multiple mounting configurations make it suitable for new livestock equipment installations, pig farm construction projects, steel structure farm buildings and replacement water-control applications where a moderate refill rate is sufficient.
Key Features
  • Automatic mechanical float operation requires no electricity or electronic sensor.
  • Low-flow design is suitable for troughs and tanks with moderate water replenishment requirements.
  • Supports top, side and bottom mounting for flexible livestock equipment layouts.
  • Compact non-corrosive construction is suitable for humid agricultural environments.
  • Fully adjustable float angle allows convenient operating water-level adjustment.
  • Built-in check-valve function supports practical servicing of the valve assembly.
  • Lock-off switch allows the valve to be held in the closed position when required.
  • Valve body can be opened by hand for inspection and routine maintenance.
  • Multiple inlet sizes, float sizes and extension-arm lengths are available.
  • Suitable for both above-water and below-water installation configurations.
Structural Components
  • Valve Body: Compact molded housing containing the water-control mechanism.
  • Inner Cartridge: Serviceable internal control component available for standard or low-pressure configurations.
  • Float Assembly: Responds directly to changes in trough or tank water level.
  • Float Arm: Transfers float movement to the internal valve mechanism.
  • Extension Arm: Allows the float position and operating geometry to be adapted to different installations.
  • Inlet Tail: Available in multiple BSP or NPT connection sizes.
  • Backnut and Seal Washer: Secure and seal the valve at the trough or tank wall.
  • Lock-Off Mechanism: Holds the water inlet closed during tank or system servicing.
Working Principle The valve works through direct mechanical float control. When livestock consume water and the trough level falls, the float moves downward and actuates the valve mechanism, allowing fresh water to enter. As the trough refills, the float rises with the water surface and progressively closes the inlet.

When the selected operating level is reached, the valve shuts off the incoming water. This automatic cycle maintains a consistent water level without motors, electrical wiring or external controllers.

Installation & Maintenance
  • Select top, side or bottom mounting according to trough structure and required water level.
  • Choose an inlet diameter compatible with the farm water-supply pipeline and required refill capacity.
  • Flush new water lines before installation to reduce debris entering the valve.
  • Install the supplied backnut and sealing washer correctly to prevent leakage around the tank wall.
  • Adjust the float angle and extension arm so the valve closes at the required operating water level.
  • Ensure the float can move freely without contacting trough walls, covers or other equipment.
  • Use the lock-off function when the water supply needs to remain closed during servicing.
  • Inspect the internal cartridge, float, seal and inlet area periodically for dirt or wear.
  • The valve body can be opened manually for routine inspection and servicing.
Product FAQ

Q: What applications are best suited to this low-flow float valve?
A: It is designed for livestock troughs, storage tanks and similar systems where moderate automatic refill capacity is sufficient.

Q: Does the valve require electricity?
A: No. Water-level regulation is performed entirely by the mechanical float and internal valve mechanism.

Q: Can the valve be installed below the water level?
A: Yes. The valve supports top, side and bottom installation and can be configured for above-water or below-water operation.

Q: Is it suitable for commercial pig farms?
A: Yes, for suitable low- to moderate-demand troughs, auxiliary tanks and water-control applications. Required flow capacity should be calculated according to animal numbers, drinking demand and available supply pressure.

Q: Can the operating water level be adjusted?
A: Yes. The float angle and extension-arm arrangement can be adjusted to suit different trough and tank configurations.

Q: Are different inlet sizes available?
A: Yes. Multiple inlet sizes, BSP or NPT threads, float sizes and arm lengths are available according to project requirements.
