Heavy-Duty Metal Trough Float Valve

Product Showcase Content
Product Name Heavy-Duty Metal Trough Float Valve
Product Image Heavy-Duty Metal Trough Float Valve
Product Overview The Heavy-Duty Metal Trough Float Valve is a mechanical water-level control device designed for livestock drinking troughs, stock tanks and similar watering equipment. A durable cast aluminum housing protects the internal valve mechanism, making the unit suitable for demanding farm environments.

The float-operated system automatically opens the water inlet as the trough level drops and closes it when the preset level is restored. No electrical power or electronic sensor is required, providing a simple solution for commercial pig farms, cattle facilities and other livestock watering systems.
Key Features
  • Heavy-duty metal housing: cast aluminum construction protects the internal valve components.
  • Automatic water-level control: mechanically replenishes the trough as animals consume water.
  • High flow capability: referenced configuration provides water flow up to approximately 245 gallons per hour.
  • Wide operating pressure range: suitable for water supply pressures from approximately 20 to 50 PSI.
  • Non-electric operation: requires no power supply, controller or electronic sensor.
  • Compact installation: suitable for plastic or metal troughs, tanks, barrels and watering pans.
  • Farm-ready construction: suitable for continuous use in commercial livestock facilities.
Structural Components
  • Cast aluminum protective housing
  • Mechanical float actuator
  • Internal shut-off valve assembly
  • Nylon water orifice
  • Water inlet connection
  • Trough or tank mounting structure
  • Internal sealing and regulating components
Working Principle The valve operates through a mechanical float mechanism. When animals drink and the trough water level falls, the float drops and opens the inlet valve. Fresh water then enters the trough automatically.

As the water rises, the float moves upward and progressively closes the valve. Once the required level is reached, the inlet shuts off, helping prevent unnecessary overflow while maintaining a consistent drinking-water supply.

  • Position the float so it can move freely without contacting trough walls or other equipment.
  • Adjust the installation position to achieve the required drinking-water level.
  • Flush the pipeline before initial operation to remove sediment and installation debris.
  • Periodically inspect the float, orifice, sealing components and inlet connection.
  • Clean mineral deposits or debris when reduced water flow or incomplete shut-off is observed.
Product FAQ

Q: Does this float valve require electricity?
A: No. It uses a mechanical float mechanism and operates directly from the pressurized water supply.

Q: What water pressure can the valve operate with?
A: The referenced metal valve is designed to operate at approximately 20-50 PSI.

Q: What is the maximum water flow?
A: The referenced configuration provides flow up to approximately 245 US gallons per hour under suitable supply conditions.

Q: Can it be used on both plastic and metal troughs?
A: Yes. This type of float valve is suitable for many plastic and metal stock tanks, troughs, barrels and watering pans when correctly mounted.

Q: Can the mounting system be customized for a pig farm project?
A: Yes. Mounting brackets, connection layouts and related water-supply components can be supplied according to project requirements.
