The Duck Drinking System is designed for commercial Pekin duck, Muscovy duck and waterfowl production where reliable drinking-water supply must be combined with the specific behavioral requirements of ducks. A complete system can combine conventional nipple drinking lines for hygienic daily water supply with deeper cup-style drinking points that allow ducks to immerse their bills and, in suitable configurations, submerge the head. | Working Principle / Structural Principle |
Filtered water enters the drinking system through a pressure-control unit and is distributed along the main water pipe. Conventional nipple drinkers provide closed, bird-actuated water access. When a duck touches the nipple pin, the internal valve opens and releases water. The valve closes automatically when the bird stops actuating it. Duck-specific cup drinkers use a deeper drinking bowl and a movable pendulum or similar valve mechanism. When the duck operates the pendulum, additional water flows into the cup. The cup geometry allows the bird to place its bill deeply into the water and, in suitable designs, immerse the head. Overflow-control features return excess water toward the cup and help limit unnecessary spillage. For optimum house hygiene, duck drinking points are commonly positioned over suitable drained or slatted areas where project conditions permit. |
