Working Principle / Structural Principle

Filtered water enters the drinking system through a pressure-control unit and is distributed along the main water pipe.

Conventional nipple drinkers provide closed, bird-actuated water access. When a duck touches the nipple pin, the internal valve opens and releases water. The valve closes automatically when the bird stops actuating it.

Duck-specific cup drinkers use a deeper drinking bowl and a movable pendulum or similar valve mechanism. When the duck operates the pendulum, additional water flows into the cup. The cup geometry allows the bird to place its bill deeply into the water and, in suitable designs, immerse the head.
