The Infrared Lamb Heat Lamp Bulb is a radiant heating source designed for localized warming of newborn lambs, weak young animals and livestock nursery areas. When installed in a compatible reflector heater, the bulb directs infrared energy toward the resting zone rather than relying on whole-building air heating.

Commercial hard-glass infrared bulbs are available in red and clear versions with common outputs of 150 W and 250 W. The E27 screw base allows installation in compatible livestock heat-lamp fixtures designed for the selected wattage.

Working Principle / Structural Principle

When electrical power is supplied, the internal heating element produces infrared radiation. The reflective bulb structure directs this radiant energy toward the animal resting area.

Infrared energy warms the animal and surrounding surfaces directly instead of first heating the full volume of barn air. This allows farmers to create a localized warm zone inside a lambing pen or nursery without increasing the temperature of the complete livestock building.

Heating intensity is influenced by bulb wattage, reflector design, installation height, ambient temperature and the distance between the lamp and the animals.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation:

  1. Confirm that the livestock heater uses a compatible E27 lamp holder.
  2. Check the maximum permitted wattage of the reflector heater before selecting a 150 W or 250 W bulb.
  3. Disconnect electrical power before installing or removing the bulb.
  4. Screw the bulb securely into the socket without applying excessive force to the glass envelope.
  5. Install and secure the protective grille before operating the heater.
  6. Suspend the complete heater at an appropriate height above the livestock resting area.
  7. Keep the hot lamp away from bedding, plastic partitions, timber and other combustible materials.

Maintenance:

  • Switch off the power and allow the bulb to cool completely before inspection or cleaning.
  • Remove dust from the bulb and reflector to maintain effective radiant heat distribution.
  • Inspect the glass body regularly for cracks or impact damage.
