2-Compartment Lamb Warming Box

Product Name 2-Compartment Lamb Warming Box
Product Image 2-compartment lamb warming box
Product Overview

The 2-Compartment Lamb Warming Box is designed to create a controlled warm-air environment for newborn lambs suffering from chilling or hypothermia. It is particularly suitable for lambing sheds, maternity pens, goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep farms and livestock treatment areas where rapid access to supplementary warmth is required.

The enclosure incorporates two individual lamb compartments, allowing separate animals to be warmed at the same time. The internal divider can be removed or repositioned to create a larger space when required for a bigger lamb or a different management situation.

A convector or fan-assisted heater supplies a continuous flow of warm air through the enclosure. Combined with the enclosed plastic body and ventilation openings, this design promotes more uniform heat distribution around the animal than localized radiant heating alone.

Key Features
  • Two independent compartments: Allows two lambs to be warmed separately within one compact unit.
  • Convertible internal layout: The divider can be removed to create a larger warming chamber for a bigger lamb.
  • Continuous warm-air circulation: Helps distribute heat throughout the chamber and around the animal.
  • Designed for hypothermic lambs: Suitable for supporting chilled, weak or low-vigour newborn lambs during lambing season.
  • Durable plastic construction: Resistant to moisture and suitable for repeated use in commercial livestock environments.
  • Easy-clean surfaces: Smooth construction assists washing and disinfection between animals.
  • Separate heater area: The heater is positioned outside the animal compartment while warm air is directed into the warming chamber.
  • Ventilated base and panels: Air openings promote circulation and help prevent concentrated heat zones.
  • Compact lambing-station design: Can be positioned close to maternity pens for rapid access during critical periods.
  • Flat-pack or assembled supply: Configuration can be selected according to transportation and project requirements.
Structural Components

Working Principle

The heating unit produces warm moving air that enters the lower or side section of the warming chamber. Ventilation slots guide the heated airflow around the lamb, helping create a more uniform thermal environment throughout the enclosure.

Warm-air circulation is widely used for chilled lamb recovery because it surrounds the body rather than heating only one exposed surface. The enclosed structure also reduces the effect of cold draughts commonly encountered in open lambing sheds.

The two-compartment arrangement allows animals from different ewes to remain separated, while the removable partition provides additional space whenever a larger warming area is required.

Installation & Maintenance

Position the warming box on a stable, dry and level floor close to the lambing or livestock treatment area. When supplied flat packed, assemble all panels, divider components and ventilation sections securely before installing the heater.

The heater should be installed in its designated compartment and operated according to its electrical rating. Keep bedding, straw, feed and other combustible material away from the heating unit and unrestricted air openings.

During use, lamb condition and body temperature should be monitored regularly. Warming equipment should not be used as a substitute for appropriate veterinary assessment, colostrum management or general newborn-lamb care.

After each use, remove bedding and organic material and thoroughly clean and disinfect the internal surfaces. Inspect the power cable, heater, ventilation openings, divider and panel fasteners periodically and replace damaged components before further operation.

Project Cases

In commercial lambing sheds, the 2-compartment warming box can be positioned beside maternity pens so farm staff can quickly transfer chilled newborn lambs into a protected warm-air environment.

For larger sheep farms, multiple warming boxes can be incorporated into a centralized lamb-care station together with colostrum preparation equipment, lamb feeding bottles, weighing equipment, treatment tools and cleaning facilities.

Product FAQ

Q: What is the main purpose of this lamb warming box?

A: It provides a protected warm-air environment for chilled, weak or hypothermic newborn lambs during lambing season.

Q: Can two lambs be warmed at the same time?

A: Yes. The standard configuration contains two separate compartments, each approximately 21 cm wide.

Q: Can the box accommodate a larger lamb?

A: Yes. The central divider can be removed to create an internal space of approximately 42 × 46 cm in the reference configuration.

Q: Why use circulating warm air instead of only a heat lamp?

A: Moving warm air surrounds the animal and helps create a more uniform warming environment. This is particularly useful when managing significantly chilled lambs.

Q: Is the unit easy to clean?

A: Yes. The durable plastic construction and accessible internal compartments are designed for routine washing and disinfection between animals.

Q: Can the warming box be supplied with a heater?

A: Yes. Compatible heater configurations can be supplied according to voltage, power and destination-market requirements.

Q: Can it be supplied flat packed?

A: Yes. Flat-packed or assembled supply options are available according to transportation and project requirements.
