The controller is installed between the mains electrical outlet and the livestock heat lamp. Its internal thermostat continuously responds to the ambient temperature around the controller. When temperature falls below the lower switching point, the controller energizes its output receptacles and supplies power to the connected heat lamp. When ambient temperature rises to the upper switching point, electrical output is interrupted automatically. The difference between the switch-on and switch-off temperatures prevents rapid repeated cycling around a single temperature point and provides simple automatic cold-weather heater control. Because the sensor is integrated into the controller body, the unit should be positioned where the surrounding air temperature reasonably represents the area that requires frost or cold-weather protection. It is not intended to measure the surface temperature directly beneath an infrared lamp. |
