Product Overview

The Heated Float Sheep Drinking Bowl is an automatic frost-protected livestock waterer designed for goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep, goats and other compatible farm animals operating in cold-weather environments. A mechanical float valve maintains the required water level automatically, while an integrated heating cable helps protect the bowl and valve against freezing.

The drinking bowl is manufactured from high-quality livestock-grade plastic and incorporates an insulated lower cover that helps retain heat around the heated components. A frost-protection thermostat controls heating automatically according to ambient temperature, reducing unnecessary energy consumption during milder conditions.

For severe winter installations, models with auxiliary pipe heating can also protect a section of the incoming water line. The compact wall- or pipe-mounted design is suitable for commercial sheep farms, goat houses, breeding facilities, steel structure livestock buildings and cold-region agricultural projects.

Key Features
  • Automatic Float Water Control: Mechanical float valve maintains a consistent drinking level without manual filling.
  • Integrated Bowl Heating: Built-in heating cable protects the drinking bowl and valve from freezing.
  • Thermostatic Frost Protection: Automatic temperature control activates heating at approximately +3°C and switches it off at approximately +13°C.
  • Cold-Weather Performance: Reference configuration is designed for frost protection down to approximately -15°C when correctly installed.
  • Optional Pipe Heating: Higher-output versions provide auxiliary heating for the bowl, valve and up to approximately 2 metres of supply pipeline.
  • 5 L Bowl Capacity: Compact reservoir provides convenient drinking access while maintaining regular water turnover.
  • Quick Valve Access: Protective valve cover can be removed quickly for inspection and maintenance.
  • Easy Drainage: Integrated outlet plug facilitates bowl emptying and routine cleaning.
  • Wall or Pipe Mounting: Flexible installation allows integration with livestock pen partitions, walls or suitable support pipes.
  • Replaceable Heating Cable: Heating components are designed for practical servicing and replacement.
Structural Components
Component Function
Plastic Drinking Bowl Provides a durable and corrosion-resistant drinking reservoir for livestock.
Float Valve Automatically opens and closes the incoming water supply according to bowl water level.
Valve Protection Cover Protects the float-valve mechanism from animal contact while providing rapid service access.
Heating Cable Transfers heat to the bowl and valve to reduce freezing risk.
Frost-Protection Thermostat Automatically regulates heater operation according to ambient temperature.
Lower Heat-Retention Cover Reduces heat loss beneath the bowl and protects the heating components.
Auxiliary Pipe Heater Available on selected configurations to protect the incoming supply line from freezing.
Drain Plug Allows fast draining for cleaning and maintenance.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

The drinking bowl is connected to the livestock facility water supply. As sheep consume water, the float moves downward and opens the inlet valve. Fresh water enters automatically until the preset operating level is restored, after which the float closes the valve.

During freezing conditions, the integrated frost-protection thermostat activates the heating cable. Heat is transferred around the bowl and valve area, reducing the risk of ice formation. The lower protective cover helps limit heat loss and improves heating efficiency.

On configurations with auxiliary pipe heating, additional heating cable extends along the incoming pipeline to provide extra protection between the water connection and drinking bowl. Correct insulation and installation remain essential for dependable winter operation.

Customization Options

For commercial livestock projects, the drinking system can be configured according to winter temperature, available power supply, water pressure and livestock-house layout. Available options may include:

  • 24 V or alternative electrical configuration according to project requirements
  • Standard bowl and valve heating
  • Extended auxiliary pipeline heating
  • High-pressure or low-pressure float valve configuration
  • Left- or right-side water connection
  • Wall or pipe mounting arrangement
  • Pipe brackets and protective guards
  • Supply-line insulation and frost protection
  • Water pipeline layout according to livestock building design
  • OEM packaging and project identification

Final configuration should be designed according to local climate, electrical standards, livestock species, water pressure and farm conditions.

Installation & Maintenance

Mounting Position: Install the drinking bowl at an appropriate height for sheep or goats. Secure it firmly to a structurally adequate wall, livestock partition or suitable mounting pipe.

Water Connection: The supply connection can be arranged from the left or right according to the installation layout. Flush new pipelines before connecting the float valve.

Electrical Installation: Heating equipment should be connected according to the selected voltage and applicable local electrical regulations. A suitable transformer is required for reference 24 V configurations where specified.

Pipeline Protection: In severe freezing conditions, use the auxiliary pipe-heating configuration or another suitable frost-protection solution for exposed supply lines.

Cleaning: Use the outlet plug to drain the bowl regularly and remove feed residue, sediment and organic contamination.

Valve Inspection: Open the protective cover and inspect the float, valve seat and inlet connection periodically to maintain reliable refill performance.

Pre-Winter Inspection: Before freezing weather begins, test the heating cable and thermostat and inspect exposed electrical and water connections for damage.

Project Cases

Heated float sheep drinking bowls can be integrated into complete cold-climate livestock projects together with galvanized sheep pens, feeders, water pipelines, drainage systems and insulated steel structure livestock buildings. Drinking-point quantity and heating requirements can be planned according to flock size, pen layout and local winter conditions.

Product FAQ
