| Working Principle |
Each silo is supported by load cells or weighing modules positioned beneath the structural legs. As feed is delivered to or discharged from the silo, the load on the sensors changes proportionally. The load-cell signal is connected to a wireless telemetry acquisition module. The module processes the signal and transmits the weighing information by radio to a receiver installed at a suitable remote location. The receiver can forward the data to a digital display, weighing controller, PLC or compatible farm management system. After correct zero setting and calibration, the system provides usable silo content weight and inventory information. A reference wireless silo application used one telemetry module per silo and transmitted data from four load cells on each silo to a receiver positioned approximately 50 metres away, demonstrating the suitability of wireless transmission where long cable runs are undesirable. |
