Product Overview

The Plastic Chick Guard is a reusable poultry brooding barrier designed to keep day-old chicks within a controlled area around brooders, feeders and drinking equipment. It helps prevent young birds from wandering away from the required heat zone during the critical early rearing period.

Manufactured from durable plastic, the guard can be supplied as interlocking panels, flexible sheets or modular sections according to farm requirements. Circular, oval, rectangular and customized brooding areas can be created to suit different poultry-house layouts and flock sizes.

Compared with temporary cardboard barriers, plastic chick guards provide a washable and reusable solution for commercial poultry production. They are suitable for integration with heat lamps, electric brooders, gas brooders, feeding systems and poultry drinking lines in conventional or steel structure poultry houses.

Key Features
  • Durable Plastic Construction: Designed for repeated use under normal poultry-house conditions.
  • Controlled Brooding Area: Helps keep chicks close to the required heating, feeding and drinking equipment.
  • Flexible Layout: Can form circular, oval or customized chick rearing zones according to brooder-house design.
  • Reusable Design: Plastic components can be cleaned and reused between production cycles.
  • Easy Cleaning: Smooth plastic surfaces simplify washing and farm sanitation procedures.
  • Lightweight Handling: Convenient for installation, relocation, dismantling and storage.
  • Expandable Configuration: Modular versions can be enlarged by adding additional sections.
  • Ventilation Options: Perforated or grid-type panels maintain air circulation through the brooding zone.
  • Quick Assembly: Interlocking panels or flexible sheets reduce installation time during house preparation.
  • Equipment Integration: Compatible layouts can accommodate poultry drinking lines, feeders and brooder heaters.
  • Space-Saving Storage: Selected configurations can be folded, stacked or rolled after use.
  • Commercial Farm Application: Suitable for broiler, layer, breeder and hatchery projects.
Structural Components
  • Plastic guard panels or flexible plastic sheet
  • Panel edge connection structure
  • Connecting hinges or joining profiles according to model
  • Ventilation openings on perforated configurations
  • Integrated carrying openings according to panel design
  • Support stands according to configuration
  • Upper stabilizers according to configuration
  • Optional drinking-line passage sections
  • Optional additional extension panels
Structural Principle

The chick guard forms a physical barrier around the brooding zone. Young birds remain within a defined area containing the heat source, feeders and drinkers instead of spreading into colder sections of the poultry house.

For modular versions, individual plastic panels are connected at their edges to create a continuous enclosure. Comparable commercial systems use connecting hinges at the upper and lower panel edges, allowing sections to be joined securely while remaining convenient to dismantle and fold.

The enclosure can be expanded as chicks grow by increasing the ring diameter, repositioning flexible sections or adding additional panels. Perforated panel designs maintain airflow while still controlling chick movement within the brooding area.

Installation & Maintenance

Install the chick guard on a clean, level poultry-house floor before chick placement. The enclosure should provide sufficient room for the brooder, feeders, drinkers and normal chick movement while keeping young birds within the required heating zone.

  • Determine the required enclosure size according to chick numbers and brooding density.
  • Position the guard around the brooder before chicks are introduced.
  • Avoid sharp internal corners where chicks could crowd or pile.
  • Secure all panel connectors, hinges or support stands.
  • Position feeders and drinkers evenly throughout the accessible brooding area.
  • Maintain safe clearance around gas brooders, heat lamps and electric heaters.
  • Inspect the guard regularly for gaps or displaced sections.
  • Expand the enclosure progressively as chicks grow and require additional floor space.
  • Remove accumulated litter and organic material after each flock.
  • Wash and disinfect reusable plastic surfaces according to the farm sanitation program.
  • Allow components to dry thoroughly before storage.
  • Store panels flat, folded or rolled according to their structural design.
Product FAQ

Q1: What is a plastic chick guard used for?

It creates a temporary controlled brooding area that keeps young chicks close to heat, feed and drinking equipment during early rearing.

Q2: Why is plastic suitable for chick guards?

Plastic is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and washable, making it suitable for reusable poultry-house equipment when properly cleaned and maintained.

Q3: Can the guard form a circular brooding area?

Yes. Flexible sheets and interconnected panels can be arranged into circular or polygonal enclosures depending on the selected design.

Q4: Can the enclosure be enlarged as chicks grow?

Yes. Flexible guards can be repositioned and modular systems can accept additional panels to provide more floor area.

Q5: Can drinking lines pass through the chick guard?

Yes. Selected modular designs can incorporate designated openings or configurable passage points for poultry drinking lines.

Q6: Is the plastic chick guard reusable?

Yes. It can be washed, disinfected and reused between poultry production cycles when the material remains in good condition.

Q7: Can it be used with different poultry heating systems?

Yes. Appropriate layouts can be used with gas brooders, electric brooders, infrared heat lamps and other correctly installed poultry heating equipment.

Q8: Can SHEWUYOU customize the guard for large commercial farms?
