Product Overview

The Horned Cattle Crush is a specialist livestock restraint system designed for safe handling of horned cattle while remaining suitable for conventional non-horned beef and dairy breeds.

Its manually operated scissor-style head yoke retracts into the sides of the crush to provide a clear approach for animals with wide horns. Adjustable neck restraint, full flank access, secure rear control and a high-grip floor make the system suitable for routine veterinary work, identification, treatment and herd management.

Key Features
  • Specially configured for Highland cattle and other horned breeds.
  • Suitable for both horned and non-horned cattle.
  • Manually operated scissor-style head yoke provides controlled animal restraint.
  • Yoke arms retract into the crush sides to maximize animal visibility and horn clearance.
  • Reference head-yoke opening adjustable from approximately 100 to 280 mm.
  • Two side doors and removable side rails provide extensive access to the animal's flanks.
  • Ratchet-style rump bar helps maintain the animal in a forward position.
  • Tapered treadplate floor provides reliable footing during handling.
  • Rear gate supplied on the reference configuration.
  • Integrated pallet-fork lifting points simplify relocation around the farm.
Structural Components
  • Main Structural Frame: Rigid steel framework designed for repetitive commercial cattle handling.
  • Scissor-Style Head Yoke: Retractable front restraint mechanism suitable for cattle with large horns.
  • Yoke Width Adjustment: Manual winding mechanism allows the neck opening to be matched to animal size.
  • Lever Operating Handle: Allows quick manual operation of the yoke arms.
  • Side Access Doors: Provide access to the flanks for veterinary and husbandry procedures.
  • Removable Side Rails: Increase working access when required.
  • Rump Bar: Ratchet mechanism helps restrict backward cattle movement.
  • Rear Gate: Controls entry and prevents animals backing into the handling race.
  • Treadplate Floor: Provides a stable, high-grip surface for cattle.
  • Forklift Lifting Points: Integrated into the upper frame for convenient movement.
Working Principle

The animal enters the crush from the rear handling race and approaches the open scissor yoke. Because the yoke arms retract into the sides of the frame, horned cattle have a relatively unobstructed view and additional clearance when entering.

The operator uses the lever mechanism to close the yoke around the animal's neck. The adjustable rump bar reduces backward movement, while the side doors and removable rails can be opened as required for examination, treatment or other livestock-management procedures.
