Product Name Low-Profile Newborn Calf Transport Trolley
Product Image low profile stainless steel newborn calf transport trolley
Product Overview The Low-Profile Newborn Calf Transport Trolley is designed for gentle, labor-saving movement of newborn and young calves between calving pens, individual calf housing, veterinary areas and other locations within commercial dairy farms.

Its low-position stainless steel trough can be brought close to floor level so a calf can be loaded with significantly less lifting effort. A foot-operated tipping mechanism then raises the trolley into its normal transport position, while an ergonomically positioned push bar allows convenient manual movement around the farm.

The simple single-axle design combines corrosion-resistant construction, easy sanitation and low maintenance, making it particularly suitable for high-hygiene calf-rearing facilities and intensive daily farm use.
Key Features
  • Low-profile trough minimizes lifting height when loading newborn calves.
  • Flat, open loading end simplifies placement of weak or newly born animals.
  • Foot-operated tipping mechanism moves the trolley easily into transport position.
  • Ergonomic push bar provides convenient control at normal working height.
  • Stainless steel construction offers good resistance to moisture and routine farm sanitation.
  • Smooth trough surfaces simplify washing and disinfection between calves.
  • Single-axle two-wheel design provides compact maneuverability around calf facilities.
  • Standard and large-diameter wheel configurations are available for different floor conditions.
  • Large-wheel version provides improved mobility over uneven farm surfaces.
  • Optional safety net can provide additional containment during transport.
Structural Components
  • Stainless Steel Trough: Forms the low-position calf carrying area and provides smooth, washable animal-contact surfaces.
  • Open Loading End: Allows the calf to be placed into or removed from the trolley with reduced lifting effort.
  • Single-Axle Wheel System: Supports balanced manual transport and compact turning.
  • Foot Pedal / Tread Bar: Provides leverage for raising the trough from loading position to transport position.
  • Ergonomic Push Bar: Positioned at practical working height for pushing and steering.
  • PU-Filled Wheels: Reduce puncture-related maintenance in typical livestock environments.
  • Optional Large Wheels: Improve travel over rough, uneven or outdoor surfaces.
  • Safety-Net Mounting Points: Allow installation of an optional calf containment net.
Working Principle For loading, the trolley is tilted so the shallow entrance of the trough approaches the barn floor. The newborn calf can then be gently moved into the stainless steel carrying area with minimal lifting.

The operator uses the tread bar to pivot the trolley onto its wheels and into the transport position. The calf settles toward the deeper part of the trough as the trolley is raised.

After reaching the destination, the operator lowers the front of the trolley toward the bedding or floor. The calf can then be moved gently from the trough into the prepared calf pen or bedding area.

Installation & Maintenance
  • Check wheel, axle and push-bar assembly before first operation.
  • Confirm that the foot pedal and pivot mechanism move freely before loading a calf.
  • Inspect wheel condition and axle fasteners regularly.
  • Keep the trough free from sharp objects, damaged edges and accumulated debris.
  • Remove bedding and organic material immediately after transport where practical.
  • Wash and disinfect animal-contact surfaces between calves according to farm biosecurity procedures.
  • Keep optional safety nets clean and inspect hooks and attachment points for damage.
  • Inspect welded joints periodically for deformation or fatigue.
  • Use the larger wheel option where routes include uneven outdoor surfaces.
  • Store the trolley in a clean area when not in use to simplify hygiene management.
Project Cases In commercial dairy projects, low-profile calf transport trolleys can be positioned near maternity barns for rapid transfer of newborn calves to individual calf pens or outdoor hutches.

Large-wheel configurations are suitable for projects where transport routes include concrete alleys, outdoor yards or moderately uneven surfaces. Equipment quantity and routing can be planned according to calving capacity and calf-housing layout.
Product FAQ Q: Why is the calf trolley designed with a low-profile trough?
A: The low trough entrance reduces the height through which a newborn calf must be lifted, simplifying loading and reducing physical effort for farm personnel.

Q: How is the trolley raised into transport position?
A: A foot-operated tread bar provides leverage so the operator can pivot the trolley onto its wheels.

Q: What material is used for the trolley?
A: The reference configuration is manufactured from stainless steel for durability and convenient sanitation.

Q: What is the reference trough size?
A: The reference trough measures approximately 850 × 600 × 400 mm.

Q: What wheel sizes are available?
A: Reference configurations include approximately 260 mm and 400 mm wheel diameters.

Q: Which version is better for uneven ground?
A: The large-wheel configuration is recommended where transport routes include rough or uneven farm surfaces.

Q: Is a calf safety net available?
A: Yes. A compatible containment net can be supplied according to the selected configuration.

Q: Is the trolley easy to disinfect?
A: Yes. The stainless steel trough has smooth surfaces that can be washed and disinfected as part of routine calf-facility hygiene.

Q: Can the trolley be customized?
A: Yes. Wheel configuration, dimensions and selected accessories can be supplied according to project requirements.
