Product Overview

The Flat-Shelf Wean-to-Finish Wet-Dry Feeder is designed to serve pigs continuously from early post-weaning through market weight. Its low, flat feed shelf provides convenient access for small piglets while remaining suitable for larger grower and finishing pigs.

Pigs can consume dry feed directly from the shelf or activate integrated drinking nipples to mix feed and water in the lower trough. The simplified flat-shelf geometry also improves access during washing and helps reduce areas where wet feed residue can accumulate.

Heavy-duty stainless steel construction, adjustable feed flow and two-sided access make the feeder suitable for intensive commercial pig houses and shared feeding between adjacent pens.

Key Features
  • Designed for pigs from early weaning through finishing.
  • Flat feed shelf provides easy access for pigs of different sizes.
  • Two-sided configuration can serve adjacent pens efficiently.
  • Wet-dry design allows pigs to choose dry or moistened feed.
  • One drinking nipple can be provided for each feeding space.
  • Adjustable feed opening helps control feed delivery and reduce waste.
  • Heavy-duty 304 stainless steel construction available.
  • Welded chassis provides durability for intensive commercial use.
  • Folded edges strengthen wear points and improve animal safety.
  • Easy-clean shelf design supports farm biosecurity procedures.
  • Multiple lengths and feed-space configurations are available.
  • Extended hopper and mounting options are available upon request.
Structural Components
  • Feed Hopper: Stores dry meal or pellet feed for gravity delivery.
  • Flat Feed Shelf: Provides a low, accessible dry-feed surface without unnecessary obstructions.
  • Feed Adjustment Mechanism: Regulates the quantity of feed entering the shelf area.
  • Wet-Dry Trough: Allows feed and water to be mixed according to pig preference.
  • Feed-Space Dividers: Organize feeding positions and reduce excessive competition.
  • Drinking Nipples: Deliver water directly within the feeding station.
  • Water Supply Line: Connects the feeder nipples to the farm drinking-water system.
  • Stainless Steel Chassis: Provides structural strength and corrosion resistance.
  • Feed Tube Holders: Connect automatic feed-drop tubes above the hopper.
  • Mounting Points: Support floor, slat or gate-mounted installation.
Working Principle

Dry feed moves from the hopper through an adjustable opening onto the flat shelf. Pigs can consume feed directly from the shelf or activate the drinking nipple and combine feed with water in the trough below.

The low, unobstructed shelf allows smaller weaned pigs to reach both feed and water while continuing to function as pigs grow toward finishing weight.

Feed-flow and water-flow settings can be adjusted according to pig age, ration characteristics, barn water pressure and farm management requirements.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation:

  • Confirm pig numbers, pen arrangement, floor type and feed-line position.
  • Locate the feeder so pigs can access both sides without restricting pen traffic.
  • Secure the chassis with mounting hardware suitable for the flooring system.
  • Connect automatic feed-drop tubes and check unobstructed hopper filling.
  • Connect the water supply and set suitable pressure and flow.
  • Check all drinking nipples for proper operation and leakage.
  • Set the initial feed opening according to pig size and ration type.
  • Inspect mounting points, edges and connections before commissioning.

Maintenance:

  • Remove stale or compacted wet feed as required.
  • Clean the flat shelf and trough thoroughly between production groups.
  • Inspect the feed-flow adjustment mechanism regularly.
  • Check nipples and water lines for leakage, blockage or mineral deposits.
  • Keep hopper interiors dry and free from feed bridging.
  • Inspect welds, dividers and mounting hardware periodically.
  • Wash and disinfect according to the farm biosecurity program.
Product FAQ

Q: What is the advantage of a flat feed shelf?
A: The open flat-shelf design provides easier access for small pigs and simplifies cleaning by reducing obstructions around the feed and water area.

Q: Can one feeder be used from weaning to market weight?
A: Yes. Suitable configurations are designed to accommodate pigs from approximately 3.5 kg through finishing weights above 130 kg.

Q: Can pigs eat both dry and wet feed?
A: Yes. Pigs can eat dry feed directly from the shelf or use the integrated nipple to mix feed and water in the trough.

Q: How many pigs can one feed space serve?
A: A common reference is approximately 12-16 pigs per feeding space, although final stocking should follow pig size and farm management conditions.

Q: Can feed flow be adjusted?
A: Yes. Fine feed-flow adjustment helps maintain feed availability while limiting excessive accumulation and waste.

Q: Can larger hopper capacities be supplied?
A: Yes. Extended and pyramid-style hopper options are available according to project requirements.

Q: Can the feeder be mounted on slatted floors?
A: Yes. Suitable mounting accessories can be configured for concrete slats, plastic floors, solid concrete and gate installations.

Q: What information is required for a quotation?
A: Please provide pig weight range, pigs per pen, pen quantity, required feeding spaces, flooring type, feed-line arrangement, water conditions and available pig-house drawings.
