Product Overview

The Infrared Electric Brooder is a suspended poultry heating unit designed to provide concentrated radiant warmth for chicks and other young birds during the brooding stage. An electrically heated infrared element directs thermal energy toward the bird and litter zone, helping create a warm microclimate without relying on gas combustion.

The system is particularly suitable for poultry farms where LPG or natural gas is unavailable, inconvenient or not preferred. Electric infrared brooders can be installed in broiler, breeder, pullet and other poultry rearing houses as part of a controlled livestock-house climate system.

SHEWUYOU can configure heating output, electrical specification, reflector dimensions, suspension arrangement and temperature-control options according to poultry-house dimensions, local climate, steel structure building design and project requirements.

Key Features
  • Infrared radiant heating: Transfers heat directly toward birds, litter and floor surfaces in the brooding area.
  • Electric operation: Suitable for poultry projects where gas supply is limited or electrical heating is preferred.
  • Localized heat zone: Creates concentrated warmth beneath the brooder while allowing birds to move toward cooler areas.
  • Reflective heat distribution: The metal reflector helps direct infrared energy downward toward the useful brooding area.
  • Suspended installation: Height can be adjusted according to bird age, heating demand and poultry-house layout.
  • Thermostatic control: Compatible configurations can regulate heating output according to temperature requirements.
  • No combustion gases: Electric heating does not introduce direct combustion products from the brooder into the poultry house.
  • Easy operation: Simple electrical heating structure reduces fuel-line installation requirements.
  • Maintenance friendly: Heating coil, reflector, suspension hardware and electrical components are accessible for inspection.
  • Project customization: Heating capacity, voltage, control method and mounting arrangement can be customized.
Structural Components
Component Function
Infrared Heating Element Converts electrical energy into radiant thermal energy.
Metal Reflector Directs radiant energy toward the poultry floor and brooding zone.
Heating Element Support Positions and supports the heating coil inside the reflector assembly.
Electrical Terminal Assembly Provides the electrical connection between the power supply and heating element.
Temperature Controller Regulates brooder operation according to temperature settings where fitted.
Power Cable Connects the brooder to the poultry-house electrical supply.
Suspension Chains Support overhead installation and allow height adjustment.
Working Principle

Electrical current passes through the infrared heating element, causing the element to rise in temperature and emit radiant energy.

The reflector positioned above and around the heating element directs a large portion of this energy downward toward the litter, floor and chicks. Because infrared energy heats surfaces and animals directly, it can create a concentrated brooding zone without depending entirely on warming the full volume of poultry-house air.

Brooder height and heating output can be adjusted according to bird behavior, age, stocking conditions and ambient temperature. Compatible thermostat or environmental-control systems can switch or regulate the brooder according to heating demand.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation

  1. Calculate brooder quantity and spacing according to poultry-house heating requirements.
  2. Select structural suspension points with sufficient load capacity.
  3. Suspend the brooder securely above the required brooding zone.
  4. Maintain suitable clearance from litter, birds and combustible materials.
  5. Connect the unit to the specified electrical supply using suitable protected wiring.
  6. Install thermostat or environmental-control connections where specified.
  7. Test electrical protection, heating output and control operation before introducing birds.
  8. Adjust installation height according to chick behavior and brooding requirements.

Maintenance

  • Disconnect electrical power before inspection or cleaning.
  • Remove dust, feathers and litter deposits from the reflector and heating element regularly.
  • Inspect heating coils for deformation or visible damage.
  • Check electrical terminals, cables and connectors for overheating or wear.
  • Inspect suspension chains and attachment points regularly.
  • Test thermostat and control functions before each brooding cycle.
  • Electrical servicing should be performed by qualified personnel according to applicable local regulations.
Project Cases

Infrared electric brooders are suitable for commercial poultry projects requiring localized heating without a dedicated gas-distribution system. SHEWUYOU can calculate brooder quantity, suspension positions, electrical load and control zones according to poultry-house drawings, bird type, insulation level, ventilation design and local climate conditions.

Product FAQ

Q1: How does an infrared electric brooder heat chicks?

An electrically heated element emits infrared radiation that warms birds, litter and floor surfaces beneath the brooder.

Q2: When is an electric brooder preferable to a gas brooder?

It is particularly useful where natural gas or LPG infrastructure is unavailable or where electrical heating is preferred for project management reasons.

Q3: Can the brooder be controlled by a thermostat?

Yes. Compatible models can use integrated or external thermostatic control according to project requirements.

Q4: Can several brooders be controlled as one heating zone?

Yes. Suitable electrical control systems can group multiple brooders into controlled heating zones.

Q5: Is the installation height adjustable?

Yes. Suspended installation allows brooder height to be adjusted according to bird age and required heat intensity.

Q6: Does an electric brooder produce combustion gases?

No direct combustion takes place in the brooder, so it does not add combustion gases from a burner to the poultry-house air.

Q7: What information is needed to select the correct model?

Poultry-house dimensions, bird type, quantity, electrical supply, ambient temperature, insulation and required heating zones should be provided.

Q8: Can SHEWUYOU supply complete electric brooding systems?

Yes. Infrared brooders, thermostats, electrical control components and installation accessories can be configured according to project requirements.
