Portable Water Dissolved Oxygen Meter

Product Name Portable Water Dissolved Oxygen Meter
Product Image portable water dissolved oxygen meter
Product Overview The Portable Water Dissolved Oxygen Meter is a compact water quality testing instrument designed for measuring dissolved oxygen concentration in water. It is suitable for routine field inspection of livestock drinking water, storage tanks, treatment systems, ponds and other agricultural water sources.

For commercial livestock projects, dissolved oxygen testing can be incorporated into routine water management procedures together with pH, conductivity, TDS and other water quality checks. The portable structure allows farm technicians to move between livestock houses, water tanks and treatment rooms without installing permanent monitoring equipment.

The instrument can support water management programs associated with livestock equipment installations, pig farm construction and steel structure building projects where centralized drinking water systems require periodic inspection and maintenance.
Key Features
  • Portable design for on-site water quality inspection and routine farm testing.
  • Digital dissolved oxygen measurement with a clear LCD display.
  • Polarographic dissolved oxygen sensing technology for aqueous samples.
  • Automatic temperature compensation helps improve measurement consistency under changing water temperatures.
  • Manual two-point calibration supports routine verification of meter performance.
  • Separate probe and flexible cable make it convenient to test tanks, troughs, reservoirs and sampling containers.
  • Battery-powered operation is suitable for locations without a nearby electrical supply.
  • Compact structure allows convenient transportation between livestock houses and water treatment areas.
  • Suitable for commercial farm water management, agricultural water testing and environmental monitoring.
Structural Components
  • Handheld Meter: Houses the electronic measuring circuit, LCD display and operating controls.
  • Dissolved Oxygen Probe: Polarographic sensing probe for contact with the water sample.
  • PTFE Membrane: Oxygen-permeable membrane used as part of the dissolved oxygen sensing assembly.
  • Temperature Sensor: Supports automatic temperature compensation during testing.
  • Probe Cable: Provides flexible access to tanks, troughs and other water sampling locations.
  • Battery Compartment: Allows portable operation without fixed electrical wiring.
  • Protective Probe Components: Help protect the sensing membrane during transportation and storage.
Working Principle The dissolved oxygen probe uses a polarographic electrochemical measurement principle. Oxygen in the water sample passes through an oxygen-permeable membrane and participates in an electrochemical reaction inside the probe. The resulting electrical signal is processed by the meter and displayed as dissolved oxygen concentration.

Before routine measurement, the probe should be correctly prepared, polarized and calibrated according to the operating procedure. During testing, adequate water movement across the probe membrane is important for stable polarographic dissolved oxygen measurements. Automatic temperature compensation adjusts the measurement for changes in sample temperature.

Installation & Maintenance The portable meter does not require permanent installation. Connect and prepare the dissolved oxygen probe according to the operating instructions, install the battery and complete calibration before measurement.

During testing, immerse the sensing end of the probe in the water sample and allow sufficient water movement around the membrane. Wait until the displayed reading stabilizes before recording the result.

Keep the probe membrane clean and free from physical damage. Replace damaged, stretched or contaminated membranes when necessary and use fresh electrolyte when servicing a refillable polarographic probe. The protective cap should be fitted during storage and transportation.

Periodic calibration and correct probe maintenance are recommended for reliable routine measurements in livestock farm environments.
Product FAQ What does a dissolved oxygen meter measure?
It measures the concentration of dissolved molecular oxygen present in a water sample, normally expressed in mg/L.

Where can the meter be used on a livestock farm?
Typical testing locations include drinking water tanks, storage reservoirs, treatment rooms, water sources and selected points within farm water supply systems.

Does the meter require permanent installation?
No. The handheld design is intended for portable testing and can be moved between different sampling points.

Why is calibration important?
Calibration helps verify the response of the dissolved oxygen probe before routine measurements and should be performed according to the operating instructions.

Does water movement affect measurement?
Yes. Polarographic probes consume a small amount of oxygen at the membrane surface, so adequate movement of the sample across the membrane is important for stable readings.
