Livestock DNA Tissue Sampling Kit

Product Name Livestock DNA Tissue Sampling Kit
Product Image livestock DNA tissue sampling kit for cattle
Product Overview The Livestock DNA Tissue Sampling Kit is designed for efficient collection, identification and transport of small ear tissue specimens from cattle and other suitable ruminants. The collected tissue can be used for genomic analysis, genetic evaluation, parentage verification, breeding selection, research and selected veterinary diagnostic programs.

The reference tissue sampling system combines an identification tag, tissue sampling needle and hygienic collection tube. The tissue specimen can be collected while the animal is being tagged, allowing animal identification and sampling to be completed in one controlled operation.

Each sample tube can carry a unique barcode and the same individual identification number as the corresponding tag components. This helps maintain reliable animal-to-sample traceability from the livestock farm through transport and laboratory processing.
Key Features
  • Designed for livestock DNA and genomic tissue sampling.
  • Especially suitable for bovine and other ruminant ear-notch collection.
  • Combines tissue sampling and individual animal identification in one operation.
  • Small tissue punch provides a processable specimen for laboratory DNA extraction.
  • Reference sampling needle diameter is approximately 3 mm.
  • Hygienic plastic collection tube protects the tissue specimen after sampling.
  • Unique barcode and matching tag number support reliable sample traceability.
  • Compatible hand applicator provides repeatable mechanical sampling.
  • Dry and preservation-liquid tube options are available according to laboratory requirements.
  • Suitable for commercial breeding farms and large-scale genomic selection programs.
Structural Components
  • Male Tag Component: Works together with the sampling needle during tissue collection and animal identification.
  • Female Button Tag: Locks with the male component and remains on the animal for identification.
  • Tissue Sampling Needle: Removes a small ear-notch specimen during application.
  • Collection Tube: Receives, encloses and protects the collected tissue for laboratory transport.
  • Barcode Identification: Provides machine-readable identification for laboratory sample management.
  • Matching Serial Number: Links the tissue specimen directly to the corresponding animal tag.
  • Compatible Applicator: Provides the mechanical action required to collect the sample and attach the identification tag.
Working Principle The matched sampling components are loaded into a compatible tissue sampling applicator. After the animal is properly restrained, the applicator is positioned on a suitable area of the ear while avoiding major blood vessels, damaged tissue and existing identification tags.

When the applicator is closed with firm and continuous pressure, the sampling needle passes through the ear and captures a small tissue specimen while the identification tag is attached.

After sampling, the needle containing the specimen is retained by the applicator. The matching collection tube is then placed over the sampling component to enclose and seal the tissue sample.

The identified specimen can then be transported to a qualified laboratory for DNA extraction, genomic analysis or other validated testing procedures.

Use & Maintenance Confirm that the identification number and barcode of the collection tube correspond with the matched tag components before sampling. Matched components should not be mixed between animals.

Load the sampling components into the compatible applicator according to the operating instructions. Properly restrain the animal and select a suitable area of the ear with sufficient clearance from major blood vessels, thick cartilage, damaged tissue and existing tags.

Close the applicator using a firm and continuous action. After sampling, visually confirm that an adequate tissue specimen has been collected before sealing the sampling component with the matching tube.

Keep the reusable applicator clean and free from obstruction. Disinfect it according to livestock tagging and farm biosecurity procedures. Moving parts should be inspected routinely and maintained according to the applicator instructions.

Store and transport collected samples according to the requirements of the receiving genomic or veterinary diagnostic laboratory.
Product FAQ What is a livestock DNA tissue sampling kit used for?
It is used to collect traceable ear tissue specimens for DNA extraction, genomic testing, breeding selection, parentage analysis and other approved laboratory applications.

Can the kit be used for cattle genomic testing?
Yes. Ear tissue samples collected with this type of system can be used for cattle genomic analysis when accepted by the selected genetic testing laboratory.

How is the tissue sample linked to the correct animal?
The collection tube carries a unique barcode and the same identification number as the corresponding tag components, supporting individual animal traceability.

Can tagging and tissue sampling be performed at the same time?
Yes. The reference system is designed to collect an ear tissue specimen while applying the identification tag in one operation.

Can the tissue sample also be used for disease testing?
Ear tissue samples may be used in validated diagnostic programs such as BVDV testing. The receiving laboratory should confirm the required tube type and sampling procedure before collection.

Is the collection unit reusable?
No. Tissue sampling components are intended for individual animal sampling. The compatible applicator is reusable when properly cleaned and maintained.

What tube options are available?
Dry and preservation-liquid tube configurations can be supplied according to laboratory protocols and project requirements.
