Product Overview

The Layer & Breeder Bell Drinker is an automatic suspended poultry watering unit designed for laying hens, breeder hens, roosters and other adult floor-reared poultry. Its circular drinking trough provides convenient access around the complete perimeter while an integrated mechanical valve maintains the required water supply.

The bell drinker combines a durable plastic body, automatic valve mechanism, independent ballast system, suspension cord and flexible water connection. It is suitable for commercial poultry houses, breeder farms and poultry equipment projects requiring a simple, reliable and easy-to-maintain drinking solution.

Key Features
  • Automatic Water Supply: mechanical valve control replenishes water as birds drink from the circular trough.
  • Designed for Adult Poultry: suitable for laying hens, breeder hens and roosters in floor-reared production systems.
  • Independent Ballast System: the ballast component improves drinker stability without placing unnecessary load on the valve mechanism.
  • Adjustable Drinking Height: suspended installation allows the trough height to be set according to bird size and flock management requirements.
  • Adjustable Water Level: the valve mechanism allows operators to maintain an appropriate trough water depth.
  • Durable Plastic Construction: high-impact plastic components are suitable for demanding commercial poultry-house environments.
  • Low-Pressure Operation: compatible with regulated poultry water systems using a pressure regulator or header tank.
  • Easy Cleaning and Inspection: the open circular trough and accessible valve components simplify routine farm maintenance.
Structural Components

Working Principle

Water is supplied through a flexible hose to the mechanical valve located above the bell body. As birds consume water, the change in the operating balance of the drinker activates the valve and allows additional water to enter the circular trough.

When the required water level is restored, the valve closes automatically. The separate ballast bottle stabilizes the suspended drinker and helps prevent bird movement from directly affecting the valve mechanism.

Installation & Maintenance

Suspend the bell drinker from a suitable poultry-house roof truss, steel structure or equipment support system. Connect the flexible inlet hose to a clean, regulated low-pressure water supply and verify that the suspension cord carries the drinker correctly without side loading the valve assembly.

Adjust the drinking height so that the trough lip remains conveniently accessible to the birds. For adult poultry, the drinker should be progressively raised as necessary to reduce litter contamination and unnecessary water spillage.

Routine maintenance should include cleaning the trough, flushing the inlet hose, inspecting the filter and valve mechanism, checking the ballast bottle and examining suspension components. Water sanitation procedures should follow the farm's biosecurity and drinking-water management program.

Product FAQ

Q: Is this bell drinker suitable for breeder hens and roosters?

A: Yes. Breeder-type bell drinkers are designed for adult hens and roosters in commercial floor-reared poultry houses.

Q: How many bell drinkers are required?

A: A typical breeder system may use approximately 10-12 drinkers per 1,000 adult birds. Actual quantity should be determined according to stocking density, climate, house layout and farm management.

Q: Does the drinker require a pressure regulator?

A: A regulated low-pressure water supply is recommended. Pressure can normally be controlled through a suitable regulator or header tank.

Q: What is the purpose of the ballast bottle?

A: The ballast bottle adds stability to the suspended drinker independently of the bell and helps prevent excessive movement from affecting the valve mechanism.

Q: Can the drinking height be adjusted?

A: Yes. The suspension cord and adjuster allow the bell drinker height to be changed according to bird size and flock management requirements.

Q: Can the system be supplied for complete poultry-house projects?

A: Yes. Drinker quantity, suspension layout, water supply lines, pressure regulation and connection components can be configured according to project requirements.
