Product Overview

The Low-Pressure Float Automatic Sheep Drinker is designed for goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep farms and other small-ruminant facilities operating from low-pressure water systems. A protected float valve automatically maintains a constant drinking level, allowing animals to access water without manual refilling.

The reference configuration uses a large, robust plastic drinking bowl with approximately 6 litres of water volume. Its rounded internal profile provides comfortable access for livestock and eliminates sharp edges in the normal drinking area. The valve mechanism is enclosed beneath a protective cover to reduce direct animal interference.

With a low-pressure operating range up to 1 bar, the drinker is particularly useful for gravity-fed tanks, mobile water tanks and other farm installations where conventional higher-pressure drinkers may not operate correctly. The unit can be integrated into commercial sheep housing, livestock penning and steel structure farm building projects.

Key Features
  • Low-Pressure Operation: Designed for water pressure up to approximately 1 bar, making it suitable for gravity-fed and low-pressure farm water systems.
  • Automatic Float Control: Float valve maintains a constant drinking level as animals consume water.
  • 6 L Reference Water Volume: Large drinking bowl provides practical water availability for sheep and compatible livestock.
  • Robust Plastic Bowl: Durable molded construction provides corrosion resistance and suitability for demanding livestock environments.
  • Right or Left Water Connection: 1/2-inch male connection can be arranged from either side for flexible plumbing installation.
  • Quick Drainage: Rubber drain plug allows rapid emptying and cleaning without special tools.
  • Rounded Animal Contact Surfaces: Smooth bowl geometry reduces sharp-edge injury risks.
  • Protected Valve Mechanism: Cover helps shield float components from livestock contact and contamination.
  • Easy Water-Level Adjustment: Float system allows straightforward adjustment of the operating water level.
  • Optional Heated Versions: Cold-climate alternatives can be specified according to project requirements.
Structural Components
Robust Plastic Bowl Forms the drinking reservoir and provides a corrosion-resistant livestock contact surface.
Low-Pressure Float Valve Automatically regulates water entry according to the drinking level.
Float Bottle and Lever Respond to water-level changes and actuate the inlet valve.
Protective Valve Cover Protects the internal valve assembly from direct livestock contact.
1/2-Inch Water Connection Provides connection from the right or left side according to pipeline layout.
Rubber Drain Plug Allows rapid draining for cleaning and maintenance.
Mounting Points Enable installation on suitable walls, posts or pipe supports.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

The drinker operates using a mechanical low-pressure float valve. When sheep drink and the water level inside the bowl falls, the float moves downward and opens the inlet valve. Water enters the bowl automatically until the preset level is restored.

As the water rises, the float returns upward and progressively closes the valve. When the required level is reached, incoming water stops. This operating principle provides automatic replenishment without electrical sensors or pumps at the individual drinking point.

The low-pressure valve configuration is intended for systems operating at pressures up to approximately 1 bar, making it suitable for gravity-fed tanks and other low-head water supplies.

Final configuration can be designed according to local climate, water pressure, sheep size, pen layout and farm conditions.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation Height: Position the bowl so sheep can drink comfortably without excessive neck extension. Adjustable mounting systems can be used where different animal groups require different drinking heights.

Low-Pressure Supply: Confirm that the water source and pipeline operate within the specified low-pressure range. Excessive inlet pressure may affect valve performance and should be regulated before commissioning.

Water Connection: Connect the 1/2-inch inlet from the most convenient side according to the livestock building pipeline arrangement.

Water-Level Adjustment: Adjust the float mechanism after installation to maintain an appropriate drinking depth without unnecessary overflow.

Cleaning: Remove the rubber drain plug to empty the bowl rapidly. Flush feed particles, sediment and organic material from the drinking area before replacing the plug.

Routine Inspection: Check the float, valve lever, seals, inlet fitting, drain plug and mounting hardware regularly to maintain dependable operation.

Project Integration

Low-pressure float sheep drinkers can be integrated into complete sheep farm projects together with galvanized penning, feeding systems, gravity water tanks, pipelines, drainage systems and steel structure livestock buildings. Drinking-point quantity and mounting height can be planned according to flock size, pen arrangement and available water pressure.

Product FAQ

Q: What is a low-pressure automatic sheep drinker?
A: It is a float-controlled drinking bowl designed to operate from a low-pressure water source while automatically maintaining a preset water level.

Q: What is the recommended maximum pressure?
A: The comparable low-pressure configuration is designed for operation up to approximately 1 bar.

Q: Can it work with a gravity-fed water tank?
A: Yes, provided the available head pressure and flow rate are suitable for the selected low-pressure valve.

Q: How is the water level maintained?
A: A mechanical float opens the inlet valve as the level falls and closes it automatically after the preset level is restored.

Q: Is the bowl easy to clean?
A: Yes. A removable rubber drain plug allows rapid emptying, helping operators flush sediment and feed contamination from the bowl.

Q: Can the water connection be installed on either side?
A: Yes. The reference design provides a 1/2-inch male connection from either the right or left side.

Q: Can SHEWUYOU customize the system for a complete sheep farm?
A: Yes. Valve configuration, mounting system, pipeline arrangement, heating options and related livestock equipment can be supplied according to project requirements.
