Product Overview

The Tongue Valve Goat Drinking Bowl is an individual livestock watering unit designed to provide water on demand through an animal-operated pressure flap. When the animal presses the tongue or paddle, the internal valve opens and releases water directly into the bowl. Releasing the paddle closes the valve and stops the flow.

This compact watering principle eliminates the need for an exposed float mechanism and can help reduce standing water compared with conventional constant-level bowls. The drinker can be incorporated into goat houses, sheep housing, individual pens, holding areas and other livestock facilities where compact individual drinking points are required.

SHEWUYOU can configure drinking bowl material, valve type, water connection and mounting arrangement according to the livestock housing layout and project requirements.

Key Features
  • Animal-Activated Water Supply: Water is released when the animal presses the tongue or pressure flap.
  • On-Demand Operation: The valve closes after pressure is released, helping control unnecessary water discharge.
  • Compact Drinking Point: Suitable for installation along pen partitions, walls and livestock handling areas.
  • Durable Bowl Construction: Bowl material and surface treatment can be selected according to farm environment and project requirements.
  • Serviceable Valve Assembly: The valve mechanism is positioned for routine inspection, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Rounded Drinking Area: Smooth bowl geometry facilitates livestock access and routine washing.
  • Flexible Installation: Wall, partition or pipe mounting configurations are available according to the farm layout.
  • Project Integration: Can be supplied as part of complete goat housing, sheep housing and livestock watering systems.
Structural Components
Component Function
Drinking Bowl Provides an accessible drinking area and receives water released by the valve.
Tongue / Pressure Flap Animal-operated paddle that mechanically actuates the water valve.
Valve Assembly Controls water delivery when the pressure flap is depressed.
Water Connection Connects the drinking bowl to the farm water supply line.
Mounting Backplate Provides secure attachment to walls, partitions or suitable support structures.
Fasteners / Pipe Brackets Selected according to the required mounting method and livestock housing structure.
Working Principle

The tongue valve drinker operates through direct mechanical actuation. When the animal pushes the tongue-shaped pressure flap with its muzzle, the flap transfers pressure to the valve located behind it. The valve opens and allows fresh water to flow into the drinking bowl.

When the animal stops pressing the flap, the valve returns to its closed position and the water flow stops. This provides water according to drinking demand rather than maintaining a permanently filled bowl through a float valve.

Important: Tongue valves generally require more actuation force than tube or float valves. For goat projects, valve resistance, animal size and drinking behaviour should therefore be evaluated before final product selection.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation: Fix the drinking bowl securely to a stable wall, livestock partition or suitable pipe support. Position the bowl at a height that allows the target animals to reach and operate the tongue comfortably. Connect the valve to the water supply and check the operating pressure, valve movement and water delivery before use.

Routine Cleaning: Remove feed residues, dirt and organic material from the bowl and especially from the area behind and around the pressure flap. Regular cleaning is important because debris can accumulate around a tongue-type activation mechanism.

Inspection: Periodically check the valve, tongue pivot, seals, inlet fitting and mounting hardware. Replace worn valve components or seals when necessary to maintain reliable water delivery.

Project Integration

The Tongue Valve Goat Drinking Bowl can be incorporated into complete livestock watering projects together with water supply pipelines, penning systems, feeding equipment and steel structure goat or sheep houses. Drinking point quantity, installation height and pipeline arrangement can be designed according to animal numbers, housing layout and local farm conditions.

Product FAQ

Q: How does a tongue valve drinking bowl work?
A: The animal presses the tongue-shaped paddle with its muzzle. This mechanically opens the valve behind the paddle and releases water into the bowl. Water flow stops when the paddle is released.

Q: Is a tongue valve suitable for every goat?
A: Not necessarily. Tongue valves normally require more operating force than tube valves or float systems. Suitability should be evaluated according to goat size, age, valve resistance and farm management requirements.

Q: Can the drinker be installed on livestock pen partitions?
A: Yes. Depending on the selected configuration, the bowl can be mounted to a suitable wall, partition or pipe support.

Q: Can the water connection be customized?
A: Yes. Water connection and pipeline configuration can be selected according to project requirements.

Q: Can SHEWUYOU supply a complete goat watering system?
A: Yes. Drinking bowls can be supplied together with livestock penning, feeding equipment, water pipelines and other components for complete commercial goat farm projects.
