Product Overview

The Fixed RFID Cattle Identification System is an automated livestock identification solution designed for continuous reading of electronic cattle ear tags at fixed animal handling points. It is suitable for installation beside cattle chutes, weighing stations, sorting lanes, feedlot processing areas and livestock entry or exit gates.

The system combines one or more stationary RFID antennas with a fixed reader, power supply and communication interface. When cattle carrying compatible electronic identification tags move through the reading zone, the system automatically captures individual EID numbers without requiring manual scanning.

Identification data can be transferred directly to electronic scales, computers, herd-management software or livestock automation controllers, supporting traceability, weighing, sorting, breeding records and production management on commercial cattle farms.

Key Features
  • Automatic Cattle Identification: Reads compatible RFID ear tags as animals pass through designated handling or processing points.
  • Fixed Installation: Suitable for cattle chutes, gates, alleyways, scales and automated livestock handling systems.
  • HDX and FDX-B Options: ISO-compatible configurations are available for common livestock electronic identification technologies.
  • Large Reading Zone: Panel antenna configurations provide practical coverage for controlled cattle movement areas.
  • High-Volume Processing: Suitable for commercial farms and feedlots processing large numbers of animals.
  • Automatic Data Transfer: Electronic IDs can be sent directly to scales, computers or compatible herd-management software.
  • Multiple Antenna Layouts: Single-panel, dual-panel and chute-mounted configurations are available according to project requirements.
  • Farm Automation Integration: Can work with weighing systems, sorting gates and livestock management platforms.
  • Rugged Construction: Outdoor and farm-ready antenna housings are available for demanding livestock environments.
  • Project-Specific Design: Reader position, antenna size and communication interface can be configured according to barn layout and cattle flow.

Working Principle

The fixed reader energizes the stationary antenna and creates an RFID reading field around the designated cattle passage. When an animal carrying a compatible electronic ear tag enters this zone, the tag communicates its electronic identification number to the reader.

The reader decodes the tag number and sends the information through the selected communication interface. Depending on the system configuration, the data can be transferred immediately to a livestock scale indicator, computer, farm controller or herd-management database.

Correct antenna positioning is essential for reliable performance. Reading distance and coverage are influenced by antenna dimensions, tag type, animal position, nearby steel structures, electrical interference and cattle flow through the installation.

Installation & Maintenance

Fixed RFID system installation should be planned according to cattle flow, chute width, steel structures and the required identification point. A site survey is recommended before determining final antenna and reader positions.

  • Determine the required cattle reading zone before installation.
  • Mount antennas securely beside the chute, gate or weighing station.
  • Maintain suitable clearance from metal structures where required by the antenna design.
  • Install reader and power equipment in a protected location.
  • Route communication and antenna cables away from animal contact and mechanical damage.
  • Connect the reader to the required scale, computer or farm-management interface.
  • Test the complete reading zone with actual cattle RFID ear tags before commissioning.
  • Adjust antenna position or system tuning if dead zones are detected.
  • Inspect cables, brackets and electrical connections periodically.
  • Keep antennas and control boxes clean and protected from excessive contamination.
Product FAQ

Q1: What is a fixed RFID cattle identification system?

It is a stationary electronic identification system that automatically reads compatible cattle RFID ear tags when animals pass through a defined chute, gate or handling area.

Q2: Where can the system be installed?

Typical locations include cattle chutes, weighing stations, sorting lanes, feedlot processing areas and farm entry or exit points.

Q3: Can it read ISO-compatible cattle tags?

Yes. Compatible systems can read HDX and FDX-B electronic identification products conforming to ISO 11784 / ISO 11785.

Q4: Can the reader connect directly to an electronic livestock scale?

Yes. Compatible fixed readers can send electronic identification numbers to scale indicators, computers or herd-management systems.

Q5: Is a dual-panel antenna system available?

Yes. Dual-panel configurations can be used where a larger reading volume or high-throughput cattle movement is required.

Q6: Does the system require a site survey?

A site survey is recommended because steel structures, chute dimensions, cattle movement and nearby electrical equipment can affect RFID performance.

Q7: Can the system operate automatically?

Yes. Fixed readers are designed to capture electronic IDs automatically when compatible tags enter the configured reading zone.

Q8: Can SHEWUYOU supply a complete fixed RFID cattle identification package?

Yes. RFID ear tags, fixed readers, panel antennas, cables, power supplies and integration with weighing or sorting equipment can be configured according to project requirements.
