Modular Biofilter Air Distribution Floor

The Modular Biofilter Air Distribution Floor forms a raised, air-permeable support beneath a biological filter bed. Exhaust air collected from pig houses, manure handling areas or livestock wastewater facilities enters the underfloor plenum and passes through the floor into the filter media. The modular layout can be adapted to the biofilter cell and coordinated with farm ventilation ducts, concrete containment walls and the project's steel structure building layout.

A project-specific assembly may include perforated or open-area floor modules, support legs or pedestals, panel connections, perimeter details and an air inlet connection. The biofilter basin, media bed, exhaust fan, humidification equipment and drainage system are coordinated as part of the complete odor-control installation; their supply scope should be confirmed for each project.

A fan conveys collected exhaust air into the plenum below the floor. Air passes upward through the distributed openings and then through a suitably conditioned biological media bed. Microorganisms in the media help break down biodegradable odor compounds. Airflow balance, media condition, moisture and operating temperature all influence treatment performance.

The floor footprint, plenum geometry, inlet position, support spacing and perimeter interfaces can be reviewed against the biofilter drawings. For pig farm construction projects, the design can also be coordinated with exhaust duct routing, concrete works, service access and adjacent steel structure buildings. Final materials, load capacity and supply scope are confirmed during engineering.

Install the support system on a prepared base in accordance with approved layout and structural drawings. Assemble the modules, complete the inlet and perimeter details, check the air path and drainage provisions, and then place the specified filter media. During operation, inspect accessible connections and drainage points, monitor pressure drop, and maintain the media and moisture-control system. Vehicle access for media replacement must be included in the verified load design before use.

Does the floor remove odors by itself?
No. It supports the media and distributes incoming air. Odor removal depends on the complete biofilter design and operating conditions.

Can it fit an existing biofilter basin?
A retrofit is possible when the basin dimensions, base condition, air inlet, drainage and loads are suitable. Site drawings are required for evaluation.

Can equipment travel over the filter bed?
Only when the complete floor and support assembly has been engineered for the specified wheel loads and maintenance method.
