| Product Overview | The Pig House Biological Air Scrubber is designed for treating exhaust air from mechanically ventilated commercial pig buildings. Air from the house passes through a moist filter bed where a biological film helps break down odor compounds and treat ammonia. Water distribution also helps capture airborne dust. The system can be planned for new pig farm construction or integrated with an existing ventilation layout, subject to site assessment. |
| Key Features |
|
| Structural Components | A typical configuration comprises an inlet plenum, air distribution section, biological filter media and supports, spray headers and nozzles, recirculation tank, pumps, pipework, drainage and blowdown connections, mist eliminator where required, access openings, and a control panel. Housing materials, supporting frame, and connections are selected according to the pig house design and project conditions. |
| Working Principle | Ventilation fans direct pig house exhaust into the inlet plenum and distribute it across the wetted filter media. The water film absorbs soluble compounds and maintains conditions for the microorganisms on the media. Treated air then passes toward the outlet, while recirculated water is monitored and periodically discharged or replenished according to the operating plan. Airflow distribution, moisture control, and pressure drop are considered during system design. |
| Technical Specifications |
|
| Applications | Suitable for exhaust air treatment projects at sow farms, nurseries, and finishing pig houses. It can be considered where odor management, ammonia control, dust reduction, or nearby sensitive land uses influence the ventilation and environmental design. |
| Customization Options | The treatment capacity, module arrangement, access orientation, piping connections, control functions, and structural interface can be adapted to the building drawings. For a steel structure pig house, the design should account for available space, service access, structural loads, exhaust fan performance, and the route for water and drainage services. |
| Installation & Maintenance | The scrubber is connected to the designated exhaust air path and installed on a suitable support or foundation. Commissioning includes checking airflow, spray coverage, water circulation, drainage, and controls. Routine maintenance includes inspecting nozzles and filter media, checking pumps and sensors, managing process water, and keeping access areas clear. Maintenance intervals depend on dust loading, water quality, and operating conditions. |
