Product Overview The Containerized Biofilter Odor Control System treats collected exhaust air from livestock and agricultural waste facilities. A fan draws odorous air through a ducted collection network and directs it through humidification and a biologically active filter bed. The enclosed, modular arrangement is suitable for commercial pig farm projects where equipment must fit beside an existing pig house, a manure treatment building or a steel structure composting facility. Each system is configured around the source airflow, odor loading, available footprint and site utilities.
Key Features
  • Prefabricated filter modules simplify transport, positioning and connection at the farm site.
  • An enclosed filter bed and corrosion-resistant air-contact surfaces support operation in humid, odorous environments.
  • Air distribution beneath the media helps maintain consistent contact across the filter bed.
  • Accessible fan, irrigation and control equipment supports routine inspection and service.
  • Multiple modules can be arranged to suit larger collected airflows or staged farm expansion.
Structural Components Typical components include a weather-resistant container or modular housing, corrosion-resistant internal lining, media support and air distribution plenum, biological filter media, humidification or irrigation equipment, an induced-draft fan, inlet duct connections, drainage points, access openings and an electrical control panel. A separate equipment compartment, pre-scrubber, mist eliminator or additional treatment stage can be specified according to project requirements.
Working Principle Captured process air enters the system through the inlet duct. The air is conditioned to help maintain suitable moisture before it is distributed through the filter bed. As the air passes through the media, microorganisms associated with the moist media break down biodegradable odor compounds. Treated air then leaves through the designed outlet. Performance depends on the incoming air composition, loading, airflow, media condition and operating controls; pretreatment may be required for high dust or ammonia loads.
Technical Specifications
  • Design airflow: According to project requirements.
  • Number and arrangement of modules: Customizable.
  • Housing and air-contact materials: Selected for the site environment and exhaust composition.
  • Filter media and bed configuration: Selected according to the target odor compounds and maintenance plan.
  • Fan, irrigation and control configuration: Available upon request.
  • Electrical supply, water demand and footprint: Confirmed during project design.
Applications Suitable for captured exhaust from enclosed pig house ventilation systems, manure reception and processing rooms, composting buildings, livestock wastewater treatment areas and other farm waste handling facilities. The air collection and pretreatment design should be matched to each source; open areas require suitable enclosure or local capture before biofiltration.
Customization Options Container layout, module quantity, duct orientation, fan selection, media type, corrosion protection, access arrangement and automation can be customized. Moisture management, insulation and weather protection are designed according to local climate and farm conditions. The system can be coordinated with a new steel structure livestock building or planned as a retrofit beside an existing facility.
Installation & Maintenance Position the modules on a properly designed level foundation with access for lifting and future media replacement. Connect the exhaust duct, electrical supply, clean water and drainage in accordance with the approved layout. During operation, inspect the fan, ductwork, moisture distribution, drains, pressure drop and media condition. Replace or replenish media when site monitoring and inspection indicate that service is needed.
Product FAQ

Can the system be used for pig house exhaust?
Yes, where exhaust air can be collected and routed through a suitably designed duct system. Airflow, dust and ammonia loading must be reviewed during selection.

Can capacity be increased later?
A modular layout can allow additional filter capacity if the original foundation, ductwork, fan arrangement and utilities are planned for expansion.

Is a pre-scrubber always required?
No. Pretreatment is selected according to the incoming air composition and the required treatment objective.
