Product Overview

The Cast Iron Automatic Tube Valve Drinking Bowl is a heavy-duty livestock watering solution developed for cattle barns, dairy facilities, beef cattle housing, calf pens, horse stables and agricultural construction projects. Its robust cast iron body is designed to withstand frequent animal contact and demanding conditions in commercial livestock buildings.

The drinking bowl uses a mechanically operated tube valve. When the animal presses the tube with its muzzle, the valve opens and fresh water flows directly into the bowl. Once pressure is released, the valve automatically closes. This simple mechanical principle provides on-demand water without requiring electrical controls.

The compact configuration makes the bowl suitable for wall, post and livestock pen installations where reliable water delivery, straightforward maintenance and efficient use of barn space are important.

Key Features
  • Heavy-Duty Cast Iron Body: Robust construction for intensive cattle housing and demanding livestock environments.
  • Enamelled Drinking Surface: Smooth surface supports convenient cleaning and hygienic livestock water management.
  • Mechanical Tube Valve: Animals activate the water supply naturally by pressing the valve tube while drinking.
  • Automatic Water Control: Water flow stops automatically when the animal releases the tube valve.
  • Brass Valve Construction: Durable mechanical valve components provide dependable operation in livestock watering systems.
  • Controlled Water Delivery: The tube-valve principle helps provide calm water entry and reduce unnecessary splashing.
  • Flexible Water Connection: Suitable configurations can accommodate top or bottom pipeline connection.
  • Secure Mounting: Multiple mounting points allow stable attachment to appropriate walls, posts or structural supports.
  • Compact Footprint: Suitable for individual drinking stations where available pen space is limited.
  • Serviceable Components: Valve and sealing components can be inspected and replaced during routine farm maintenance.
Structural Components
Component Function
Cast Iron Bowl Body Forms the main structural body and drinking basin for reliable use in livestock housing.
Enamelled Surface Provides a smooth drinking surface and facilitates routine cleaning.
Tube Valve Acts as the animal-operated actuator for controlling water delivery.
Brass Valve Assembly Controls water admission from the supply pipeline into the drinking bowl.
Spring & Sealing Components Support automatic valve return and reliable shut-off after the animal stops drinking.
Water Inlet Connects the drinking bowl to the livestock building water distribution system.
Mounting Points Provide stable mechanical attachment to the supporting wall or livestock structure.
Working Principle

The automatic drinking bowl operates through a simple mechanical tube-valve system. When cattle press the tube valve with the muzzle, the movement opens the internal valve and allows fresh water from the supply pipeline to enter the drinking bowl.

The animal can continue activating the valve while drinking, allowing water to be replenished according to demand. When pressure on the tube is released, the valve mechanism returns to its closed position and stops the water supply.

This demand-operated principle does not require an electrical control system and is suitable for straightforward livestock water distribution layouts in commercial farm buildings.

Installation & Maintenance

Mounting: Install the drinking bowl securely on a structurally suitable wall, post, livestock pen frame or other support. Appropriate fasteners should be selected according to the supporting structure and project conditions.

Water Connection: Connect the bowl to the livestock water supply system using the appropriate inlet configuration. The pipeline should be adequately supported so that pipe loads are not transferred unnecessarily to the drinking bowl.

Installation Height: Determine the final drinking height according to cattle size, age, pen arrangement and farm management requirements. The bowl should allow animals to drink naturally while avoiding interference with gates, feed barriers and manure handling equipment.

Commissioning: Flush newly installed water pipelines before connecting or operating the drinking bowl. Check threaded connections, valve movement, water delivery and shut-off performance after installation.

Routine Cleaning: Remove feed particles, sediment and mineral deposits from the drinking basin regularly to maintain clean drinking conditions.

Valve Maintenance: Periodically inspect the tube valve, spring, seals and water connections. Worn valve or sealing components should be replaced when necessary to maintain dependable operation.

Project Cases

Cast iron automatic drinking bowls can be integrated into new dairy barn construction, beef cattle housing, calf facilities, horse stables and livestock building renovation projects.

For commercial farm projects, drinking point quantity and positioning can be coordinated with pen capacity, livestock grouping, barn layout, pipeline routing, available water pressure and management requirements. Project-specific configurations are available upon request.
