Product Overview

The MASTER FLOW Water Level Valve is a diaphragm-operated livestock water controller designed to maintain a stable water level in pig drinking troughs without electrical control components.

As pigs consume water and the trough level falls, the valve automatically opens to replenish the trough. When the preset operating level is restored, the diaphragm mechanism closes the water supply, helping provide continuous drinking access while limiting unnecessary overflow and water waste.

The system is suitable for farrowing, nursery, gestation and finishing facilities and can be combined with stainless steel water pipes, drinking troughs and different mounting arrangements for new-build or renovated commercial pig houses.

Key Features
  • Automatically maintains a consistent water level in the drinking trough.
  • Diaphragm-operated mechanical design requires no electrical power.
  • Helps prevent troughs from running dry during normal operation.
  • Supports reliable drinking-water availability for pigs and sows.
  • Helps reduce unnecessary overflow and water wastage.
  • Two 1/2-inch internal threaded connections support horizontal or vertical water-pipe installation.
  • Unused inlet can be closed with the supplied plug in the reference configuration.
  • Few moving components simplify routine servicing.
  • Replaceable diaphragm supports convenient maintenance.
  • Compatible with stainless steel trough and pipe systems.
Structural Components
  • Valve Housing: Protects the internal diaphragm and water-control components.
  • Flexible Diaphragm: Controls opening and closing of the water supply as trough conditions change.
  • Control Button: Used as part of the valve regulation mechanism.
  • Dual Water Connections: 1/2-inch internal threads allow alternative horizontal or vertical installation.
  • Unused-Inlet Plug: Closes the connection that is not required.
  • Vertical Supply Pipe: Connects the controller with the drinking trough.
  • Internal Outlet Hose: Works with the outlet pipe to support correct hydraulic operation.
  • Mounting Hardware: Can be configured for wall, panel, board profile or pen-bar installation.
Working Principle

The valve uses a flexible diaphragm to regulate the incoming water supply. When pigs drink and the water level in the connected trough decreases, the hydraulic condition changes and the valve opens to allow replacement water to flow into the trough.

As the trough refills to the operating level, the diaphragm closes the inlet and stops additional water flow. This automatic cycle repeats as animals consume water.

Because the control principle is mechanical and hydraulic, no sensor, solenoid valve or external electrical controller is normally required.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation:

  • Install a suitable prefilter upstream of the valve to reduce contamination of the diaphragm.
  • Maintain reference supply pressure at approximately 2.0-2.5 bar.
  • Mount the valve where pigs cannot easily reach or damage it.
  • Use the horizontal or vertical 1/2-inch inlet according to the water-line layout and plug the unused connection.
  • Maintain the recommended vertical distance between the valve and trough.
  • Keep the water outlet as far from the feed outlet as practical.
  • Use suitable thread-sealing tape or liquid thread sealant on pipe connections.
  • Avoid overtightening threaded pipework, which may damage the valve housing.

Maintenance:

  • Clean water-supply pipes regularly to maintain drinking-water hygiene.
  • Inspect and clean the prefilter periodically.
  • Check trough water level and valve response during routine barn inspections.
  • Inspect the diaphragm if filling becomes slow, irregular or continuous.
  • Replace worn diaphragms or control components when necessary.
  • Flush the complete drinking-water system according to farm biosecurity procedures.
Product FAQ

Q: What does the MASTER FLOW Water Level Valve do?
A: It automatically replenishes a pig drinking trough as the water level falls and stops the supply when the required operating level is restored.

Q: Does the valve require electricity?
A: No. The standard design uses a diaphragm-operated mechanical and hydraulic control principle.

Q: What water pressure is recommended?
A: The reference manufacturer recommends approximately 2.0-2.5 bar, equivalent to 29-36 PSI.

Q: Why is a prefilter recommended?
A: A prefilter helps keep particles and debris away from the diaphragm and internal valve surfaces, improving reliability and service life.

Q: Can the valve connect to horizontal or vertical water lines?
A: Yes. The reference design provides two 1/2-inch internal threaded connections, with a plug used to close the unused inlet.

Q: Is it suitable for sows?
A: Yes. The system can be combined with stainless steel sow troughs and is particularly useful where reliable water availability is important during gestation and lactation.

Q: Can it be used for nursery and finishing pigs?
A: Yes. The water-level principle can be applied to suitable trough systems for weaners, growers and finishing pigs.

Q: What information is required for a quotation?
A: Please provide pig stage, pigs per pen, trough type, water pressure, pipe layout, mounting position, required quantity and project destination.
