Veterinary No-Additive Blood Collection Tube

Product Name Veterinary No-Additive Blood Collection Tube
Product Image veterinary no-additive vacuum blood collection tube
Product Overview The Veterinary No-Additive Blood Collection Tube is a plain evacuated tube designed for collecting venous blood without anticoagulants, clot activators, separation gels or other chemical additives. It is primarily used when naturally clotted blood and subsequently separated serum are required for veterinary laboratory testing.

The pre-set vacuum draws a controlled quantity of blood directly from a compatible blood collection needle or holder, helping simplify sample collection and reduce unnecessary specimen transfer. Because the tube contains no chemical additive, it is suitable for diagnostic procedures where additive interference should be minimized.

Typical applications include veterinary serum chemistry, serology, immunology and selected diagnostic testing in cattle, pigs, goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep, goats, horses and other animals. Plain no-additive tubes are widely used in veterinary clinics, diagnostic laboratories, breeding farms and commercial livestock health programs.
Key Features
  • Contains no anticoagulant, clot activator or separation gel.
  • Designed for natural blood clotting and subsequent serum preparation.
  • Pre-set vacuum supports convenient closed-system venous blood collection.
  • Suitable for veterinary serum chemistry, serology and immunological testing.
  • Clear tube body allows convenient visual inspection of collected specimens.
  • Compatible with suitable veterinary blood collection needles and holders.
  • Multiple draw volumes and tube dimensions are available for different sampling requirements.
  • PET or glass tube configurations can be supplied according to project requirements.
  • Single-use design supports standardized laboratory and farm biosecurity procedures.
  • Suitable for commercial livestock farms, veterinary laboratories and animal health programs.
Structural Components
  • Vacuum Tube Body: Transparent collection tube manufactured from PET plastic or glass according to the selected configuration.
  • Internal Vacuum: Pre-set negative pressure draws the intended quantity of blood into the tube.
  • Stopper: Maintains vacuum integrity and allows penetration by a compatible collection needle.
  • Protective Cap: Provides convenient handling and identification according to the selected tube system.
  • Identification Label: Provides space for animal identification, collection date, specimen number and other laboratory information.
  • Additive-Free Interior: Contains no anticoagulants, separation gel or chemical clot activators.
Working Principle After successful venipuncture, the collection tube is inserted into a compatible holder so that the rear needle penetrates the stopper. The pressure difference between the evacuated tube and the animal's vein draws blood automatically into the tube until the intended vacuum draw is completed.

Because no anticoagulant is present, the blood is allowed to coagulate naturally. After adequate clot formation, the specimen can be centrifuged according to the laboratory procedure to separate serum from the cellular components and clot.

The resulting serum may then be transferred or analyzed according to the requirements of the selected veterinary diagnostic test.

Use & Handling Select the appropriate draw volume according to animal species, diagnostic requirements and the volume of serum required by the laboratory.

Perform venipuncture using a compatible blood collection needle and holder. Insert the tube into the holder and allow the vacuum to draw blood until flow stops naturally.

Because the tube contains no additive, routine mixing with an anticoagulant is not required. Allow the blood specimen sufficient time to clot completely before centrifugation.

After clot formation, centrifuge and separate the serum according to the receiving laboratory's validated procedure. Prompt separation of serum from the clot is recommended when required by the selected biochemical or diagnostic test.

Samples should be properly identified, stored and transported according to veterinary laboratory requirements. Used tubes, needles and other contaminated consumables must be discarded according to local biohazard and sharps-disposal regulations.
Product FAQ What is a no-additive blood collection tube?
It is a plain blood collection tube containing no anticoagulant, clot activator or separation gel. Blood is allowed to clot naturally before serum is separated.

What specimen is obtained from a no-additive tube?
After the blood has clotted and the sample has been centrifuged, serum can be separated for suitable laboratory testing.

What veterinary tests can use serum from this tube?
Typical applications include serum chemistry, serology, immunology and other diagnostic tests that specify plain serum specimens.

Can it be used for cattle and pigs?
Yes. Plain no-additive tubes can be used for cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats and other animals when the appropriate draw volume and laboratory protocol are selected.

Does the blood need to be mixed after collection?
No anticoagulant mixing is required because the tube contains no additive. The specimen should instead be allowed to clot according to the laboratory procedure.

What is the difference between a no-additive tube and a serum clot activator tube?
A no-additive tube allows blood to clot naturally, while a serum clot activator tube contains material intended to accelerate coagulation.

Can different tube volumes be supplied?
Yes. Multiple tube capacities and dimensions can be supplied according to animal species, diagnostic procedures and procurement requirements.
