Product Name Small Bolus Applicator for Sheep
Product Image small bolus applicator for sheep
Product Overview

The Small Bolus Applicator for Sheep is a compact manual livestock dosing tool designed for oral administration of compatible small-format boluses to goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep and growing lambs. It provides controlled bolus placement while allowing the operator to maintain a secure grip during routine flock-health procedures.

AGIP Instruments lists both an AI-BG-09 Small Bolus Applicator under product code 03-1010 and a separate small bolus gun under product code 03-1012 within its veterinary balling-gun range. This confirms the use of dedicated smaller applicators alongside larger sheep and cattle bolus guns.

The applicator is suitable for commercial sheep farms, breeding operations, veterinary livestock services, finishing systems and agricultural equipment distributors requiring a reusable tool for mineral, trace-element or nutritional bolus programs.

Key Features
  • Small-Bolus Configuration: Designed for compatible smaller oral boluses used in sheep and growing lamb management.
  • Controlled Oral Delivery: Mechanical applicator action helps position and release a bolus in a controlled manner.
  • Compact Handling: Smaller applicator configuration is practical for sheep handling races and routine flock-processing areas.
  • Rigid Delivery Tube: Provides controlled guidance of the bolus applicator within the animal's mouth.
  • Manual Operation: Requires no electrical power, compressed air or external supply system.
  • Reusable Construction: Suitable for repeated flock dosing when cleaned and inspected after use.
  • Easy Bolus Loading: Simple applicator structure supports quick preparation between animals.
  • Routine Flock Management: Suitable for mineral and trace-element supplementation programs when used with an approved compatible bolus.
  • B2B Supply Capability: Applicator head, delivery tube, handle and export packaging options are available according to project requirements.
Structural Components
Handle Assembly Provides a secure manual grip for controlling the applicator during sheep dosing.
Actuating Mechanism Hand-operated trigger, lever or plunger mechanism advances the internal push rod.
Push Rod Transfers operator movement to the bolus and releases it from the applicator head.
Delivery Tube Rigid or gently curved tube guides the loaded bolus toward the appropriate oral release position.
Small Bolus Head Retains a compatible small bolus before administration.
Return Mechanism Returns the plunger to its loading position after bolus release in applicable designs.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

A compatible bolus is loaded into the retaining head at the end of the applicator. The sheep is calmly and securely restrained before the applicator is introduced through the side of the mouth according to the bolus manufacturer's administration instructions.

After correct positioning is achieved, the operator activates the handle, trigger or plunger mechanism. The internal push rod advances and releases the bolus from the applicator head so that the animal can swallow it.

The applicator is then withdrawn carefully and the sheep should be observed to confirm normal swallowing before it is released from the handling system.

Important: The applicator head and bolus dimensions must be compatible. Animal age, liveweight and bolus eligibility must always comply with the instructions for the specific nutritional or veterinary product being administered.

Product FAQ

Q1: What is a small sheep bolus applicator?

It is a compact manual balling gun designed to place compatible small-format oral boluses into a sheep's mouth for swallowing.

Q2: Does AGIP manufacture a dedicated small bolus applicator?

Yes. AGIP lists the AI-BG-09 Small Bolus Applicator under product code 03-1010 and also lists a Small Bolus Gun under product code 03-1012.

Q3: Can the applicator be used with any sheep bolus?

No. The applicator head must match the diameter and length of the specific bolus being administered.

Q4: Is it suitable for lambs?

It may be suitable for growing lambs only when the selected bolus is specifically approved for their age, liveweight and physiological condition.

Q5: Why use a dedicated smaller applicator?

A smaller head is better matched to small-format boluses and can provide more appropriate handling than a large cattle-type applicator.

Q6: Is a stainless steel delivery tube available?

Stainless steel delivery tubes are widely used in commercial sheep bolus applicators because they provide good hygiene and durability. Material should be confirmed for the selected configuration.

Q7: Is the applicator reusable?

Yes. Properly maintained sheep bolus applicators are intended for repeated use across flock supplementation programs.

Q8: Does the bolus come with the applicator?

The applicator is normally supplied as a dosing tool. Bolus products and applicator combinations should be selected according to the livestock supplementation program.
