Product Overview The Above-Ground Compost Aeration Pipe System is a configurable air distribution arrangement for aerated static pile composting. Perforated pipe runs are placed on a prepared compost pad and connected through a manifold to a blower. The system can support manure mixed with suitable bedding or other bulking material at commercial pig farms, livestock facilities and organic waste processing projects. Its exposed layout allows pipe runs to be repositioned as operating needs change.
Key Features
  • Above-ground installation avoids casting aeration channels into the compost pad.
  • Perforated distribution pipes deliver air beneath the pile to support aerobic conditions.
  • Modular pipe runs can be arranged for individual piles, multiple bays or a larger composting area.
  • Pipe material, connections and protective arrangements can be selected for the expected handling loads and operating environment.
  • Compatible with a planned manure collection route, concrete compost pad, drainage layout and steel structure compost shed.
Structural Components A typical arrangement comprises perforated aeration pipe runs, a main air manifold, connectors and end fittings, an appropriately selected blower, and an electrical control arrangement. Airflow zoning, valves, temperature monitoring and a coarse distribution layer may be specified according to the project. The compost pad and its runoff or leachate management are designed as part of the overall facility.
Working Principle Prepared manure and bulking material are placed over the pipe layout. During positive-pressure operation, the blower supplies air to the manifold; the perforated pipes distribute it through the base of the pile. Airflow, pile porosity, moisture and temperature must be managed together for effective composting. Pipe spacing, perforation design and blower selection are engineered for the pile geometry and required airflow.
Technical Specifications
Pipe material and diameter According to project requirements
Pipe length, spacing and perforation pattern Customizable after airflow design
Blower capacity and controls Available upon request
Aeration zones and pile layout According to project requirements
Installation environment Designed according to local climate and farm conditions
Applications Suitable for aerated static piles handling pig manure, cattle manure, poultry litter and other compostable farm residues when blended to achieve an appropriate structure. It can be integrated into a new livestock waste treatment area or evaluated for a retrofit of an existing composting pad.
Customization Options Pipe network layout, aeration zones, blower arrangement, control functions and connection points can be adapted to the available footprint and feedstock volume. For commercial pig farm projects, the design can be coordinated with the manure separation system, vehicle access, compost shed steel structure and site drainage plan.
Installation & Maintenance Install the pipes on a prepared, adequately drained working surface, connect and check the manifold and blower, then place a suitable coarse layer and compost mix over the distribution area. Keep loaders clear of exposed pipes during filling and removal. Inspect connections, pipe condition and perforations between batches; clean or replace components as needed. Plan space for pipe handling and protect electrical equipment from weather and washdown exposure.
Product FAQ

Does the system require a below-ground aeration trench?
No. The distribution pipes are installed above the prepared pad, although the pad and drainage still require project-specific design.

Can it be used under a compost shed?
Yes. The pipe layout can be coordinated with a steel structure shed, provided that pile clearance, ventilation and equipment access are considered.

How is the system sized?
Sizing depends on feedstock characteristics, pile dimensions, airflow targets, operating method and local site conditions. Final pipe and blower specifications are confirmed during project design.
