Product Overview

This aerated static pile (ASP) system supplies air through a pipe network beneath a prepared mixture of livestock manure and suitable bulking material. It is designed for pig farms, livestock operations and centralized manure composting facilities seeking an organized aerobic treatment area with reduced routine turning during the active composting stage. The system layout is developed around feedstock characteristics, daily manure volume, site access and local climate.

Key Features
  • Forced aeration supports oxygen delivery through the compost pile.
  • Static pile operation reduces the need for routine turning during active aeration.
  • Pipe-on-grade construction offers a flexible starting layout; recessed air channels can be considered for a defined permanent facility.
  • Multiple aeration zones can be configured for phased operation or future expansion.
  • Can be integrated with a manure handling pad, drainage provisions, a roofed composting area or a steel structure building according to project requirements.
Structural Components

A typical arrangement includes an electric aeration blower, distribution manifold, zone connections, perforated under-pile pipes, valves or fittings, and an aeration control unit. The civil works may include a composting pad, surface drainage and equipment protection. Temperature monitoring, a cover layer and additional odor-control equipment may be specified where the operating plan requires them.

Working Principle

Manure is blended with an appropriate bulking material to establish pile structure and air permeability, then placed over the aeration pipes. The blower moves air through the manifold and pipe network into the pile. Operators adjust the aeration schedule and manage moisture and temperature according to the feedstock and composting conditions. After active treatment, the material is removed for curing or further processing as required.

Technical Specifications
  • Feedstock: Livestock manure blended with suitable bedding or other bulking material
  • Aeration layout: Pipe-on-grade or recessed distribution, according to project requirements
  • Blower capacity and control: Customizable after airflow and pressure calculations
  • Pipe material, diameter and zone count: Available upon request
  • Pile dimensions and treatment capacity: Designed according to feedstock volume, site conditions and operating plan
  • Installation environment: Open pad or covered facility, designed according to local climate and farm conditions
Applications

Suitable for manure management at commercial pig farms, dairy and cattle farms, poultry operations where the feedstock is properly prepared, and agricultural composting projects. It can also form part of a larger farm waste treatment facility with material receiving, mixing, curing and screening areas.

Customization Options

Pile arrangement, aeration zones, manifold routing, blower selection, control strategy and equipment enclosure can be tailored to the project. For commercial pig farm construction, the aeration area can be coordinated with manure collection routes, loader access, drainage layout and the span and column positions of a steel structure composting building.

Installation & Maintenance

Install the blower and manifold in an accessible location, position the aeration pipes to the approved layout, and check electrical connections and airflow before loading the first pile. During operation, inspect pipe openings, valves and blower condition; record pile temperatures; and keep the pad and drainage routes clear. The final installation sequence depends on the selected above-ground or recessed pipe design.

Product FAQ

Does the pile need regular turning?
Forced aeration is intended to reduce routine turning during the active stage. Mixing before pile formation and handling after treatment are still part of the operating process.

Can the system be installed under a roof?
Yes. A covered layout can be designed with suitable loader clearance, ventilation, drainage and blower access.

How is system capacity determined?
Capacity is sized from the manure and bulking-material volume, feedstock properties, available pad area and the required operating schedule.
