Powered 3-Way Cattle Drafting Gate Module

Product Name Powered 3-Way Cattle Drafting Gate Module
Product Image powered 3-way cattle drafting gate module
Product Overview The Powered 3-Way Cattle Drafting Gate Module is an in-line livestock sorting unit designed for installation directly in front of a cattle crush or squeeze chute. It allows cattle to be directed straight ahead or into either side exit, providing up to three sorting routes from one compact handling point.

Powered gate operation reduces manual gate handling and allows the operator to control drafting from a safer working position. Personnel access gates can be incorporated around the headbail area so routine livestock procedures remain convenient after the drafting module is installed.
Key Features
  • Three-Way Drafting: Directs cattle to the left, right or straight ahead according to the required management group.
  • Powered Gate Control: Reduces the physical effort and walking associated with manually opening sorting gates.
  • Rear Operating Position: The standard configuration can be operated through a manual switch positioned toward the rear of the cattle crush.
  • In-Line Installation: Mounts in front of the headbail to create an efficient cattle flow path immediately after restraint or weighing.
  • Headbail Access: Integrated personnel gates can provide convenient access to the front of the crush for tagging, treatment and inspection work.
  • Heavy-Duty Steel Structure: Designed for repeated operation in commercial cattle yards, feedlots and livestock handling facilities.
  • Corrosion Protection: Hot-dip galvanized construction or alternative surface treatment is available according to project requirements.
  • Flexible Integration: Dimensions, interfaces and gate arrangement can be adapted to compatible cattle crushes and yard layouts.
Structural Components
  • Heavy-duty structural steel drafting frame
  • Left-hand cattle diversion gate
  • Right-hand cattle diversion gate
  • Straight-through cattle exit passage
  • Powered gate actuators
  • Reinforced hinges and pivot assemblies
  • Gate stops and locking components
  • Rear-mounted operating switch or control interface
  • Personnel access gates near the headbail area
  • Connection points for cattle race and yard panels
  • Anchor plates and structural mounting points
Working Principle The drafting module is positioned immediately after the cattle crush. When an animal is ready to leave the crush, the operator selects the required drafting direction from the control position.

The powered mechanism moves the appropriate drafting gate into position, creating a clear route toward the selected receiving pen or race. The animal moves forward through the module and is separated from the main cattle flow without requiring the operator to manually handle the sorting gate beside the animal.

Depending on the project specification, the gate actuation system can be configured for pneumatic, hydraulic or other suitable powered operation. Automatic weighing or EID-based drafting integration is available upon request.

Product FAQ Q: How many directions can this drafting module sort cattle?
A: The module provides up to three routes: left, right and straight ahead.

Q: Where is the module installed?
A: It is normally installed directly in front of the cattle crush or squeeze chute so animals enter the drafting section immediately after leaving the headbail.

Q: How is the gate controlled?
A: A rear-mounted manual switch can be used for powered drafting. Alternative control arrangements can be supplied according to project requirements.

Q: Can the module be supplied with pneumatic or hydraulic operation?
A: Yes. The actuation system can be configured according to the cattle handling system, available utilities and project requirements.

Q: Can it work with livestock weighing or EID systems?
A: Optional integration with suitable weighing indicators, EID readers and automatic drafting controls is available upon request.

Q: Can the dimensions be customized for an existing cattle yard?
A: Yes. Please provide the cattle crush dimensions, race width, required drafting directions and yard layout so the mounting and gate arrangement can be evaluated.
