Product Name Manual 3-Way Cattle Drafting Gate Module
Product Image manual 3-way cattle drafting gate module
Product Overview The Manual 3-Way Cattle Drafting Gate Module is designed for sorting cattle into three separate exit directions immediately after a cattle crush, headbail or weighing station.

Stainless steel wire-rope controls allow the operator to select the drafting route from the rear working position instead of repeatedly walking around the crush to operate individual gates. Self-closing drafting gates help prepare the system for the next animal and support faster livestock processing.

A wide parallel-frame design provides generous working space around the headbail, while dedicated personnel access gates allow handlers to reach the animal for identification, inspection and routine husbandry procedures.
Key Features
  • Manual 3-way drafting configuration for efficient cattle sorting.
  • Drafting gates operated remotely from the rear of the cattle crush.
  • Stainless steel wire ropes provide reliable mechanical control.
  • Marine-grade stainless steel control fittings support smooth long-term operation.
  • Self-closing drafting gates reduce repetitive manual gate handling.
  • Wide parallel body provides a spacious working zone around the headbail.
  • Two personnel access gates provide convenient entry to the head-handling area.
  • Reference personnel gates are approximately 1.0 m long.
  • Large side-opening drafting gates provide approximately 1700 mm openings.
  • Top-latching access gates improve secure closure during livestock handling.
  • Heavy-duty hot-dip galvanized steel structure for demanding cattle-yard environments.
  • No electricity, hydraulic power or pneumatic supply required for standard manual operation.
Structural Components
  • Main Drafting Frame: Heavy-duty galvanized steel framework installed ahead of the cattle restraint or processing unit.
  • Three-Way Drafting Gates: Direct cattle toward the required sorting lane.
  • Self-Closing Gate Mechanism: Returns drafting gates to the operating position after animal passage.
  • Stainless Wire-Rope Controls: Transfer operator input from the rear working area to the drafting gates.
  • Marine-Grade Control Fittings: Guide the wire ropes and support smooth mechanical movement.
  • Personnel Access Gates: Provide access to the headbail working area for animal-management procedures.
  • Top Gate Latches: Secure personnel gates while maintaining convenient operator access.
  • Structural Cross Members: Maintain frame alignment and stability under repeated livestock loads.
Working Principle The drafting module is positioned immediately in front of the cattle crush, headbail or weighing zone. After an animal has been examined, weighed or treated, the operator selects the required exit direction from the rear operating position.

Pulling the appropriate wire-rope control changes the position of the drafting gates and creates the required exit route. The animal then moves forward through the selected lane without requiring the operator to walk into the exit area.

After the animal passes, the self-closing gate arrangement helps return the module to its ready position for the next animal. This in-line drafting method can improve processing efficiency where cattle are continuously moving through a working race.

Product FAQ

Q: How is the 3-way drafting module operated?
A: The drafting gates are selected manually using stainless steel wire-rope controls routed to the rear working area of the cattle crush.

Q: What is the main advantage of rear-operated drafting controls?
A: They reduce the need for operators to repeatedly walk around the crush and into areas where cattle are exiting.

Q: Do the drafting gates close automatically?
A: Yes. The reference system uses self-closing drafting gates to simplify repetitive livestock sorting.

Q: Is personnel access available near the headbail?
A: Yes. Two dedicated access gates create a wide working area for identification, examination and other livestock-management procedures.

Q: Does the module require electricity or compressed air?
A: No. Standard operation is entirely mechanical and requires no external power source.

Q: What is the reference side-gate opening?
A: The reference drafting gates provide approximately 1700 mm side openings for convenient cattle exit.

Q: Can it be installed with an existing cattle crush?
A: Yes. A suitable module can be installed ahead of many existing crush or headbail systems after dimensions, mounting points and cattle-flow geometry are confirmed.

Q: Can the module dimensions be customized?
A: Yes. Overall dimensions, exit-gate widths, lane geometry, control routing and connection details can be supplied according to project requirements.
