Product Overview

The One-Way Cattle Sort Diversion Gate is a manual livestock drafting component designed to separate selected cattle from a main handling alley into one alternative route. It can be installed before a cattle crush, weighing station or other processing point to simplify routine herd separation without requiring a complex powered drafting system.

The gate combines a rigid steel framework, visual-barrier sheeting and personnel access within a compact sorting module. Its reversible layout allows the diversion direction to be configured according to cattle-yard geometry, making it suitable for new handling-system construction and existing cattle facility upgrades.

Key Features
  • Provides a single diversion route for straightforward cattle sorting.
  • Suitable for pre-chute sorting into a crush, loading area, holding yard or alternative pen.
  • Reference diversion gates use approximately 42 in sheeted sides to limit cattle visibility of operators.
  • Can be configured for left-hand or right-hand diversion using the same basic system components.
  • Integrated personnel access allows handlers to pass through the system without opening the main cattle route.
  • Open upper rail structure maintains light and forward visibility through the handling area.
  • Manual operation eliminates dependence on hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical power.
  • Heavy-duty construction suits repeated commercial cattle handling.
  • Compatible with adjustable alleys, cattle crushes, loading ramps and modular handling yards.
Structural Components
  • Main Support Frame: Provides structural stability for the sorting module and gate assemblies.
  • Diversion Gate: Directs selected cattle from the main handling path into the designated side exit.
  • Straight-Through Passage: Allows non-selected animals to continue along the primary cattle route.
  • Sheeted Lower Panels: Reduce visual distraction at a high-pressure sorting point.
  • Open Upper Rails: Maintain light transmission and forward sightlines.
  • Personnel Access Gate: Provides handler movement through the sorting system.
  • Gate Latches: Secure the diversion configuration during cattle movement.
  • Ground Anchoring Points: Stabilize the system for repetitive livestock use.
Working Principle

Cattle approach the sorting module in single file from the working alley. Before the selected animal enters the gate area, the operator positions the diversion gate for the required destination.

Animals that do not require separation continue along the normal handling route. When an animal needs to be drafted, the gate redirects it through the side exit into a separate pen, loading route or management area.

The manual system is especially useful where only one alternative drafting destination is required and simple, dependable operation is preferred over automated sorting equipment.

Product FAQ

Q: What does a one-way cattle diversion gate do?
A: It allows selected cattle to be redirected from the main handling route into one alternative exit while other animals continue along the primary path.

Q: Can the diversion gate be installed on either side?
A: Yes. The reference system can be configured for left-hand or right-hand operation using the same basic components.

Q: Why are the lower sides sheeted?
A: Sheeting limits cattle visibility of handlers at the sorting point and can help reduce distraction during drafting.

Q: Is electrical or hydraulic power required?
A: No. This product is intended as a manually operated sorting solution.

Q: Can handlers walk through the sorting system?
A: Yes. Diversion-gate systems can incorporate dedicated personnel access for easier movement around the cattle yard.

Q: Can it be used before a cattle crush?
A: Yes. It is particularly suitable for pre-chute sorting and can direct cattle toward a crush, loading ramp, alternative alley or holding yard.

Q: Can SHEWUYOU customize the sorting layout?
A: Yes. Gate direction, dimensions, sheeting, alley connections, anchoring and related cattle handling components can be configured according to project requirements.
