 |
| Product Overview |
The 6-Rail Cattle Hurdle with Personnel Access Gate combines a robust livestock containment panel with a built-in walk-through gate for convenient operator access into or through a cattle race.
Designed for portable and modular cattle handling systems, the hurdle allows farm personnel to enter working areas without opening or dismantling the main cattle barrier. The six horizontal rails provide effective livestock containment, while the integrated access gate improves movement between race sections, treatment areas, weighing points and holding pens. |
| Key Features |
- Integrated Personnel Access Gate: Allows operators to enter or pass through the cattle race without removing the hurdle.
- 6-Rail Livestock Barrier: Provides a practical combination of visibility, airflow and cattle containment.
- 1525 mm Hurdle Height: Designed for use within cattle race and portable handling configurations.
- 650 mm Access Gate: Provides a dedicated walk-through opening for farm personnel.
- 90-Degree Lock-Off Function: The access gate can be secured across the race when used with a compatible drop-over bolt latch receiver.
- Galvanized Steel Construction: Suitable for demanding agricultural environments and repeated livestock handling.
- Modular Installation: Designed for connection with cattle hurdles, race components, joining arches and other handling equipment.
- Portable Handling Application: Suitable for temporary yards, seasonal handling facilities and farms where permanent race construction is not required.

| Structural Principle |
The hurdle forms one side of a cattle race or livestock handling enclosure. Six horizontal rails are supported by vertical structural members to create a rigid livestock barrier while maintaining good visibility through the race.
A narrow personnel gate is incorporated into the hurdle frame. During normal livestock movement, the gate remains closed as part of the race barrier. When operator access is required, the gate can be opened independently without creating a full-width livestock exit.
When used with a compatible drop-over bolt latch receiver, the access gate can also be locked at approximately 90 degrees across the race, providing additional flexibility during cattle handling operations. |

| Installation & Maintenance |
Installation:
- Position the hurdle within the cattle race where regular personnel access is required.
- Connect the hurdle securely to adjacent race panels, joining arches or support structures.
- Check that the access gate has sufficient swing clearance before final positioning.
- Ensure the gate latch can be operated safely from the intended working position.
- Install a compatible drop-over bolt latch receiver when the 90-degree lock-off function is required.
- Confirm all race components are stable and correctly aligned before introducing cattle.
Maintenance:
- Inspect hurdle rails, vertical members and welded connections regularly.
- Check access-gate hinges and latch components for wear or deformation.
- Confirm all coupling components remain secure during portable use.
- Keep manure and debris clear of the gate swing and lower hinge areas.
- Repair damaged galvanized surfaces with suitable zinc-rich protective coating when required.
- Replace damaged or excessively worn connection and latch components before further use.

| Product FAQ |
Q: What is the purpose of the integrated personnel gate?
A: It allows farm staff to enter or move through a cattle race without opening a full-width livestock gate or disconnecting the hurdle.
Q: What standard lengths are available?
A: Reference configurations include approximately 2440 mm and 3050 mm lengths. Other dimensions can be supplied according to project requirements.
Q: How wide is the personnel access gate?
A: The reference configuration uses an approximately 650 mm wide access gate.
Q: Can the access gate be used across the cattle race?
A: Yes. With a compatible drop-over bolt latch receiver, the gate can be locked at approximately 90 degrees across the race.
Q: Is the hurdle suitable for portable cattle handling?
A: Yes. It is particularly suited to modular and portable cattle races where equipment may need to be assembled, relocated or reconfigured.
Q: Can custom versions be manufactured?
