Product Overview

The Female Breeder Auger Trough Feeding System is an automatic poultry feeding solution developed for controlled feeding of female broiler breeders during the production period. A rotating auger inside the trough transports and continuously mixes the ration while feed is distributed through the poultry house.

Compared with conventional feeding methods where birds may selectively consume larger feed particles, the auger system helps maintain a more consistent feed mixture along the feeding circuit. Rapid distribution also supports more uniform access to the daily ration throughout the breeder flock.

Female-restriction grilles or adjustable access systems can be incorporated to prevent larger male breeders from consuming the hen ration. The system is suitable for floor and slatted breeder houses, steel structure poultry buildings, new livestock equipment projects and renovation of existing commercial breeder farms.

Key Features
  • Auger feed distribution: The rotating auger transports and remixes feed throughout the trough to support consistent ration presentation.
  • Reduced selective feeding: Continuous movement and mixing of the ration help limit separation and selective consumption of different feed particles.
  • Female-only feeding: Restriction grilles or adjustable access devices can help prevent larger roosters from reaching the female ration.
  • Rapid flock feeding: High-capacity distribution can make feed available throughout the circuit within a short feeding period, helping reduce competition between hens.
  • Feed-saving trough: Deep or profiled trough construction helps retain feed and reduce raking and unnecessary spillage.
  • Uniform feeding space: Continuous trough access provides distributed feeding positions throughout the poultry house.
  • Liftable system: Suspended feeding circuits can be raised for poultry house cleaning, litter management and service operations.
  • Modular construction: Trough length, circuit layout, drive arrangement and suspension configuration can be adapted to different breeder house dimensions.
  • Integrated automation: Feed weighing, batching, timing and silo delivery equipment can be incorporated according to project requirements.
Structural Components
  • Galvanized steel feeding trough sections
  • High-strength spiral feed auger
  • Feed intake boot or line hopper
  • Gear motor and drive assemblies
  • Circuit corners and auger return sections
  • Female breeder restriction grille
  • Optional adjustable roller tube or access control system
  • Trough hangers and suspension cables
  • Manual or motorized lifting winch
  • Electrical control panel
  • Optional feed weighing and batching equipment
  • Optional connection to feed silos and main auger conveying systems
Working Principle

A measured quantity of breeder feed is transferred from the farm silo, weighing hopper or central feed delivery system to the intake point of the trough feeding circuit.

When the drive units start, the steel auger rotates inside the trough and moves the ration through the complete circuit. During transportation, the auger also stirs and remixes the feed, helping maintain a consistent distribution of fine and coarse feed particles.

After the programmed distribution cycle, female breeders gain uniform access to the ration along the trough. Female-restriction grilles or controlled openings can limit access according to bird body size, supporting separate feeding programs for hens and roosters in mixed breeder houses.

Feed quantity, operating time and feeding cycles can be controlled manually or integrated with automatic weighing and poultry house management systems.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation: Trough sections are assembled according to the approved poultry house layout, followed by installation of the auger, feed intake units, drive assemblies, restriction grilles and suspension equipment. Feeding circuits should be accurately aligned and supported from suitable structural points in the poultry building.

Commissioning: After installation, technicians should check auger direction, circuit alignment, motor loading, feed distribution, female access settings, lifting operation and electrical safety before normal flock operation.

Cleaning: Suspended circuits can be raised to improve access for litter removal, poultry house washing and disinfection between production cycles.

Maintenance: Routine inspection should include the auger, trough joints, drive units, corners, suspension cables, restriction grilles, electrical components and feed intake equipment. Drive power must be isolated before servicing moving components.

Product FAQ

Q: Why use an auger instead of a conventional chain feeder?
The rotating auger transports and remixes the ration during distribution, helping reduce selective consumption of different feed particle sizes and supporting consistent feed presentation throughout the circuit.

Q: Can the system feed only female breeders?
Yes. Female-restriction grilles or adjustable access systems can be supplied to help prevent larger male breeders from consuming the hen ration.

Q: How are male breeders fed in a mixed house?
A separate male feeding line can be installed according to the breeder management program and poultry house layout.

Q: Can the system connect to an automatic feed weighing system?
Yes. Feed silos, weighing hoppers, batching controls and main feed conveying systems can be integrated according to project requirements.

Q: Is the trough length fixed?
No. Circuit length, drive quantity and overall layout are customizable according to poultry house dimensions, flock size and required feed distribution capacity.

Q: Can it be installed in an existing breeder house?
Yes. Retrofit installation is possible after reviewing the existing building structure, suspension conditions, feeding layout, electrical supply and available equipment space.

Q: Can the system be supplied for different countries?
Yes. Motor voltage, frequency, control configuration and project layout can be adapted according to local standards and farm requirements.
