This arrangement provides vertical stocking capacity while maintaining relatively open cage sides for ventilation and daily inspection. Feed troughs are installed along the cage fronts, allowing birds to access feed through adjustable openings. Drinking pipes run through or along each cage tier, with nipple height adjusted according to the pullets' development stage. During the earliest brooding stage, plastic floor mats and suitable starter feeding and drinking accessories can be used to improve access and footing. These components can be removed or adjusted as the birds grow. Depending on the farm configuration, feeding and manure handling can remain relatively simple or be upgraded with automatic equipment to reduce routine labor requirements. |
