Double-Lane Sheep Handling Race

Product Name Double-Lane Sheep Handling Race
Product Image portable sheep handling race with sheeted panels
Product Overview

The Double-Lane Sheep Handling Race is a high-efficiency livestock handling system designed to process two lines of goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep within the same working area. It is suitable for drenching, mouthing, dagging, ear tagging, selection, foot treatment and other routine flock-management operations.

The double-lane configuration increases working capacity by allowing operators to handle sheep in parallel lanes instead of relying on a single race. This is especially useful for large commercial flocks, livestock contractors and farms where high throughput is required during seasonal treatment and management work.

Lightweight aluminum framing combined with durable filled-panel construction provides a practical balance between strength, corrosion resistance and portability. The modular system can be assembled by farm personnel and integrated into portable or permanent sheep yards.

The race can be supplied in different section lengths and panel heights, with side-release gates and adjustable-width features available according to project requirements.

Key Features
  • Double-Lane Working Layout: Allows two parallel groups of sheep to be handled within one race system.
  • Higher Processing Capacity: Suitable for large mobs and repetitive flock-management operations.
  • Lightweight Construction: Aluminum frame components reduce handling weight while maintaining structural strength.
  • Durable Filled Panels: Solid side panels provide animal containment and help reduce distractions during treatment.
  • Adjustable Width: Reference race width can be reduced by pivoting one side, allowing adaptation to different sheep sizes.
  • Portable Assembly: Designed for convenient assembly, relocation and transport between working areas.
  • Side Release Gate Option: Allows selected animals to be drafted directly from the handling race.
  • Multiple Section Options: Double-lane races can be configured in two-section or three-section layouts.
  • Commercial Farm Compatibility: Suitable for portable sheep yards, permanent livestock facilities and contractor systems.
  • Custom Project Design: Panel dimensions, race length, height and accessories can be supplied according to project requirements.
Structural Components

Working Principle / Structural Principle

The race divides the working area into two parallel livestock lanes. Sheep are directed from a holding or forcing pen into either lane, where operators can carry out treatment or inspection tasks along both sides of the race.

The narrow race geometry restricts excessive sideways movement while allowing the animals to continue moving forward. Filled side panels improve containment and reduce visual distractions that may cause sheep to hesitate.

Where adjustable-width sections are used, one side of the race can pivot inward to reduce the internal width. Side-release gates can also be incorporated to remove selected animals directly from the race without interrupting the complete handling process.

Installation & Maintenance

The double-lane race is assembled by joining the modular side panels, divider sections, spreaders and back-gate components using the compatible pin system. The system should be positioned on firm, level ground and aligned with the holding or forcing area to maintain smooth stock flow.

Portable installations can be disassembled and transported between paddocks or farms. For permanent installations, suitable anchoring or engineered fixing methods should be selected according to site conditions.

Routine maintenance includes inspection of connecting pins, panel joints, release gates and adjustable sections. Manure, mud and corrosive contamination should be removed regularly to maintain smooth operation and long service life.

Project Cases

A typical commercial installation uses a forcing pen to feed sheep into two parallel race lanes. Operators can work from the outside or between the lanes to carry out drenching, tagging, inspection and other repetitive procedures efficiently.

For larger contractor or station projects, a double-lane three-section race can be integrated into a mobile sheep yard together with drafting gates, treatment equipment, weighing systems and portable holding pens.

Product FAQ

Q: What is the main advantage of a double-lane sheep race?

A: It allows two lines of sheep to be processed within one working system, increasing capacity during repetitive flock-management tasks.

Q: What operations can be performed in the race?

A: Typical applications include drenching, mouthing, dagging, ear tagging, selection, foot treatment and general animal inspection.

Q: Can the race width be adjusted?

A: Yes. Comparable systems allow the width to be reduced by pivoting one side to suit different sheep sizes.

Q: Can selected sheep be removed from the race?

A: Yes. Side release gates can be installed to draft selected animals directly from the handling lane.

Q: Is the system suitable for mobile sheep yards?

A: Yes. Lightweight modular components make the race suitable for portable yard systems and contractor operations.

Q: Can SHEWUYOU customize the system?

A: Yes. Race dimensions, panel materials, lane configuration, gates and accessories can be supplied according to project requirements.
