| Product Overview | The Merino Sheep Shearing Comb is a professional long-bevel comb developed for fine wool, dense Merino fleece and demanding commercial shearing conditions. Its wide working profile and refined tooth geometry help the comb enter tightly packed fleece while maintaining smooth movement over the goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep's skin. A long bevel is particularly useful where wool is fine, compact or affected by higher levels of natural grease. The extended bevel helps improve penetration into the fleece and allows the handpiece to move through challenging wool with reduced resistance. The reference professional configuration uses a 95 mm working width and a 7 mm bevel. Slender teeth, slim outer rider teeth and a refined heel profile are designed to support fast entry, smooth fleece flow and efficient cutter operation during high-volume shearing. |

| Working Principle | The comb is mounted beneath the cutter on a compatible sheep shearing handpiece. During operation, the comb teeth separate and lift the wool while guiding the fleece toward the cutting zone. The cutter moves rapidly from side to side across the upper surface of the comb, cutting wool fibers as they enter between the teeth. The long-bevel geometry assists entry into fine and compact fleece and helps the handpiece maintain continuous movement across the animal. Correct cutter throw, comb alignment, tension and lubrication are essential for smooth cutting performance. A professionally sharpened comb helps reduce drag, unnecessary heat generation and operator fatigue. |

| Installation & Maintenance | Disconnect the shearing machine before installing or removing the comb. Position the comb squarely on the handpiece and tighten the mounting screws evenly. Confirm that the cutter is centered and does not travel beyond the outer edges of the comb. Set blade tension only as high as necessary to maintain consistent cutting. Excessive tension increases friction, blade temperature and wear. Apply suitable shearing oil frequently during operation. After use, remove wool, lanolin and dirt from the comb, dry the component thoroughly and apply a light protective oil before storage. When cutting performance declines, regrind the comb using professional shearing-comb grinding equipment. Correct grinding maintains the flat cutting surface and effective tooth profile. |
