| Product Overview | The double-ended shear beam load cell is a sensing component for multi-point livestock weighing platforms and other heavy-duty scales. Supported at both ends and loaded through a designated central point, it provides a practical load path for large decks where animal movement changes the distribution of weight. It can be incorporated into cattle scales, group pig weighing platforms and farm material scales with appropriately designed mounts, steel structure and weighing electronics. |
| Key Features |
|
| Structural Components | A typical sensor comprises a machined beam with two support ends, an engineered shear-sensing section, bonded strain gauges, a protected cable outlet and a specified central loading interface. A complete livestock scale also requires compatible mounts, restraint hardware, a rigid platform frame, a junction box and an indicator. The exact components depend on the selected load cell and platform design. |
| Working Principle | Weight transferred from the platform to the beam's central loading point creates controlled shear strain in the sensing section. Strain gauges convert this deformation into an electrical signal proportional to the applied load. In a multi-cell scale, signals from the support points are connected through a junction box and processed by a calibrated weighing indicator. |

|
| Applications | Typical applications include cattle weighing platforms, group pig scales, livestock loading-area scales and heavy-duty agricultural floor scales. It may also be used in suitable vehicle, feed handling or material weighing systems. For commercial pig farms, the complete installation can be planned around pen access, animal movement, floor drainage, cleaning routes and the steel platform structure. |
| Customization Options | Capacity, mounting assembly, cable length, connector arrangement, junction box and indicator interface can be specified according to project requirements. For replacement projects, provide the existing sensor's model, dimensions, wiring details and mounting photographs. Platform brackets and protective details can be designed according to local climate and farm conditions, subject to an approved drawing. |
| Installation & Maintenance | Install the load cell with its specified support and central loading hardware on rigid, level mounting surfaces. Follow the approved drawing for orientation, clearances, restraints, fasteners and tightening torque. Prevent gates, ramps, pipes or adjacent steel structure members from creating an unintended load path around the sensors. Protect cables from animal contact, pressure washing and vehicle traffic. After installation, perform zero, calibration and position checks across the platform; inspect mounts and wiring during routine scale service. |
