Trailed Lamb Creep Feeder

Product Overview

The Trailed Lamb Creep Feeder is engineered for farms requiring a convenient and movable system for supplying supplementary concentrate feed to growing lambs. Combining a robust feeder body with a mobile chassis, wheels and towing connection, the unit can be relocated between grazing areas, paddocks, lambing areas and temporary feeding stations as farm management requirements change.

The double-sided feeding arrangement provides convenient access along the feeder while creep-style openings can be configured to help limit access by larger goat-farming-equipment/" target="_blank" class="keylink">sheep. This supports more controlled lamb feeding and helps reduce competition from adult animals.

Designed for outdoor livestock environments, the feeder can be manufactured with corrosion-resistant galvanized steel construction and configurable feed-space, chassis and towing arrangements according to project requirements. It is suitable for sheep farms, breeding operations, agricultural contractors, livestock equipment distributors and complete farm construction projects.

Key Features
  • Mobile feeding system: Wheel-mounted configuration allows practical relocation between fields and feeding areas.
  • Heavy-duty steel construction: Designed to withstand regular livestock contact and demanding outdoor farm conditions.
  • Galvanized corrosion protection: Suitable for humid livestock environments and long-term outdoor use.
  • Double-sided feeding access: Allows multiple lambs to feed simultaneously and improves feeder utilization.
  • Controlled creep access: Feed openings can be designed or adjusted to discourage access by larger animals.
  • Towing hitch: Provides convenient connection for controlled on-farm repositioning using suitable farm vehicles.
  • Weather-protected feed compartment: Covered feeder designs help protect concentrate feed from rain and contamination.
  • Easy filling: Hinged or removable cover configurations provide convenient access for manual or mechanical filling.
  • Low-maintenance design: Simple structural components facilitate routine cleaning, inspection and servicing.
  • Project customization: Overall size, feeding capacity, number of feed spaces, wheel arrangement and steel specification are customizable.
Structural Components
  • Feed Hopper / Storage Body: Holds dry concentrate or pellet feed and directs material toward the feeding trough.
  • Double-Sided Feeding Trough: Provides feeding access from both sides of the equipment.
  • Creep Access Rails: Restrict or control access according to lamb size and farm management requirements.
  • Protective Lid: Helps reduce rainwater entry and contamination of stored feed.
  • Galvanized Support Frame: Carries the feeder body and transfers operating loads to the mobile chassis.
  • Wheel Assembly: Supports movement between feeding locations on suitable farm surfaces.
  • Drawbar and Hitch Coupling: Enables connection to an appropriate towing vehicle for on-farm relocation.
  • Fasteners and Reinforcement Members: Improve structural rigidity and allow convenient assembly or component replacement.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

Dry supplementary feed is loaded into the central hopper and supplied to the feeding trough along both sides of the feeder. Lambs reach the feed through creep access openings positioned between the animals and the trough.

The access arrangement can be configured to suit the target lamb group, helping prevent larger sheep from dominating the feeding area. Depending on the selected feeder design, the feed outlet or trough flow can also be adjusted to regulate feed presentation and minimize unnecessary waste.

When grazing groups are transferred or feeding locations need to change, the feeder is connected to a suitable farm vehicle through the drawbar and hitch. The wheel-supported chassis allows the complete unit to be repositioned without dismantling the feeder.

Installation & Maintenance

Assembly: Depending on shipment configuration, the wheel assembly, drawbar, creep rails or other removable components may require installation before operation. All fasteners should be securely tightened and checked before the feeder is loaded.

Site Selection: Position the feeder on stable, reasonably level ground with sufficient clearance for livestock access and safe farm-vehicle movement.

Before Towing: Secure lids, adjustable rails and other movable components. Confirm the hitch connection and inspect wheels, fasteners and structural members before relocation.

Cleaning: Remove residual or spoiled feed regularly. Clean the trough and hopper to reduce moisture accumulation, mold development and feed contamination.

Routine Inspection: Periodically inspect wheel assemblies, hitch components, galvanized surfaces, fasteners and adjustment mechanisms. Replace damaged or heavily worn components when necessary.

Project Cases

Typical project configurations include pasture-based lamb finishing farms, breeding operations, rotational grazing projects, temporary feeding stations and complete livestock equipment packages. Feeder quantity, feeding capacity and structural configuration can be matched to flock size, site layout and project procurement requirements.
