The Compost Trommel Screen with Integrated Shredder combines material preparation and size separation in one processing line. A controlled feeder delivers suitable material to the shredder, which breaks up compacted compost and organic clumps before the material enters a rotating screen drum. Fine material passes through the screen openings, while oversized pieces discharge separately for inspection, reprocessing or removal.

For commercial pig farms, the system can be positioned downstream of manure solid-liquid separation and compost fermentation. It helps prepare a more consistent screened product for organic fertilizer production, bagging or further blending. The equipment can also be planned as part of a manure treatment area within a steel structure building, subject to ventilation, access and clearance requirements.

Structural Components

A typical arrangement includes a feed hopper, optional grizzly for removing large unwanted items, variable-speed feeder, guarded shredder chamber, transfer section, rotating trommel drum, screen-cleaning device, fines discharge and oversize outlet. Working Principle

A loader or upstream conveyor introduces compost into the hopper. The feeder meters material through the shredder to reduce clumps, then transfers it into the rotating drum. Tumbling exposes the material to the screen surface: particles smaller than the selected openings pass through, while larger pieces travel to the end outlet. Screened fines and oversize material are collected separately.

Can it process fresh, wet manure directly?
It is primarily intended for suitable composted or conditioned solids. Wet, sticky material may reduce screening efficiency; a feedstock assessment is recommended.

Can the final particle size be changed?
The screened fraction is governed mainly by the selected drum openings. Shredder settings and feed characteristics also affect the material reaching the drum.
