A typical pre-thickener includes a feed inlet or distribution box, vibrating screen deck, screen support, vibration drive, isolated support frame, filtrate collection section, thickened-solids outlet, and protective guards. Manure slurry enters the screen and spreads across its working surface. Liquid and particles smaller than the selected openings pass through into the filtrate collection area. Vibration helps convey the retained solids toward discharge while encouraging free liquid to drain.
