Product Overview

The Corner Sow Feeding Trough is designed for individual sow feeding in modern farrowing pens. Its compact corner shape fits closely against pen walls and U-profile equipment, helping maximize usable floor space while providing comfortable access to feed.

Manufactured from durable, corrosion-resistant plastic, the trough is suitable for demanding pig-house environments with frequent exposure to moisture, feed acids and routine washing. Smooth internal surfaces help reduce feed accumulation and simplify cleaning.

The high side-wall design allows a relatively large feed volume while helping limit spillage around the trough. It is particularly suitable for loose-sow farrowing systems, conventional farrowing pens and commercial breeding farms.

Key Features
  • Purpose-designed corner trough for farrowing sows.
  • Reference capacity of approximately 19.5 L.
  • Fits closely against U-profiles and pen-wall structures.
  • High side walls help contain feed and reduce spillage.
  • Durable UV-stabilized plastic construction.
  • Corrosion-resistant and suitable for humid pig-house environments.
  • Smooth internal surfaces simplify washing and disinfection.
  • No unnecessary internal corners where feed residues can accumulate.
  • Suitable for dry and wet feeding applications.
  • Compact design preserves usable farrowing-pen floor space.
  • Suitable for new pig houses and existing pen renovation projects.
Structural Components
  • Corner Trough Body: Molded plastic body forms the main feed-holding section.
  • Raised Side Walls: Closed side sections help contain larger feed portions.
  • Front Feeding Edge: Provides comfortable sow access while helping retain feed.
  • Corner Interface: Geometry allows close installation against wall and pen equipment.
  • U-Profile Interface: Designed for integration with compatible farrowing-pen profiles.
  • Mounting Points: Allow secure fastening to pen equipment or structural supports.
  • Feed Downpipe Interface: Can be positioned below manual or automatic feed delivery equipment according to project requirements.
Structural Principle

The trough is installed in the front corner of the sow feeding area, where its shaped sides close tightly against the wall or adjacent pen equipment. This arrangement reduces open gaps where feed could otherwise fall behind the trough.

The raised sides extend upward from the trough bottom, allowing the unit to hold a relatively large ration while helping contain feed during sow movement and feeding.

Feed can be supplied manually or delivered through a downpipe connected to a volumetric or automatic sow-feeding system. The trough then serves as the final feeding surface for the individual sow.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation:

  • Confirm farrowing-pen dimensions and sow feeding position before installation.
  • Place the trough securely in the front corner of the sow area.
  • Align the trough closely with compatible U-profiles, wall surfaces or pen equipment.
  • Secure all mounting points with corrosion-resistant fasteners.
  • Position the feed downpipe above the effective feeding area where automatic feeding is used.
  • Check that no unsafe gaps remain between the trough and adjacent pen equipment.
  • Verify stability and animal access before placing the pen into service.

Maintenance:

  • Remove residual or spoiled feed regularly.
  • Wash internal surfaces during routine farrowing-room cleaning.
  • Inspect plastic surfaces for impact damage or excessive wear.
  • Check mounting bolts, brackets and U-profile connections periodically.
  • Keep feed downpipes correctly aligned with the trough.
  • Clean and disinfect thoroughly between production batches.
Product FAQ

Q: What is the main advantage of a corner sow trough?
A: It uses otherwise difficult-to-use corner space and can close tightly against walls and pen equipment, creating a compact feeding area with fewer gaps for feed loss.

Q: What is the reference capacity?
A: The comparable Bioform corner trough has a capacity of approximately 19.5 L.

Q: What material is used?
A: The reference plastic trough is manufactured from durable, corrosion-resistant livestock-grade plastic suitable for intensive pig production.

Q: Is it suitable for loose-sow farrowing pens?
A: Yes. The corner configuration is particularly suitable for modern loose-sow farrowing systems.

Q: Can it work with an automatic feeding system?
A: Yes. A feed downpipe can be positioned above the trough and connected to volumetric or automatic dry-feed equipment.

Q: Can it be used for wet feed?
A: Plastic pig troughs are generally suitable for dry and wet feeding applications, subject to the selected material and farm feeding system.

Q: Can the trough be customized?
A: Yes. Dimensions, mounting interfaces and feed-delivery arrangements can be adapted according to project requirements.

Q: What information is required for a quotation?
A: Please provide farrowing-pen dimensions, sow numbers, feed type, trough quantity, pen equipment profile, feeding method and available barn drawings.
