| Working Principle | The RFID ear tag contains a passive electronic transponder that does not normally require an internal battery. When the tag enters the operating field of a compatible RFID reader, the transponder responds with its stored identification code. The reader transfers the ID to a handheld terminal, weighing controller, drafting system or farm management platform. This allows the animal's electronic identity to be linked with weight, breeding records, treatment history, movement records and other flock management data. | Installation & Maintenance | Before installation, verify the electronic ID and corresponding visual identification record. Load the male and female tag components into a compatible applicator and safely restrain the animal. Position the tag in an appropriate area of the ear, avoiding major blood vessels and excessively thick tissue. Close the applicator firmly to lock the components together. After installation, scan the tag to confirm that the electronic identification number is readable and correctly linked with the animal record. RFID tags normally require no routine electronic maintenance. Readers, panel antennas and farm management equipment should be inspected and tested regularly according to the system manufacturer's instructions. |
