Lamb Weighing & Carrying Sling

Product Name Lamb Weighing & Carrying Sling
Product Image lamb weighing and carrying sling
Product Overview

The Lamb Weighing & Carrying Sling is a lightweight livestock handling accessory designed for weighing and transporting newborn lambs and goat kids. A soft mesh support panel cradles the animal underneath the body while long carrying handles allow the operator to lift the animal with minimal direct handling.

The sling can also be connected to a compatible hanging or digital scale for routine birth-weight monitoring, growth checks and flock record management. An adjustable chest support strap helps accommodate different sizes of lambs and goat kids while reducing the risk of the animal sliding from the sling.

The open sling structure allows the ewe or doe to continue seeing, hearing and smelling the newborn during transport, making it particularly useful when moving young animals from a drop pen to an individual lambing or kidding pen.

Key Features
  • Dual Weighing and Carrying Function: Suitable for both routine newborn transport and connection to a compatible hanging scale.
  • Soft Polyester Mesh: Flexible mesh supports the lamb or goat kid comfortably during short-duration handling.
  • Adjustable Chest Support: Adjustable front strap helps secure different sizes of newborn and growing animals.
  • Long Carrying Handles: Strong fabric handles provide convenient manual lifting and can also serve as the suspension point during weighing.
  • Open-Body Design: Allows the dam to maintain visual, auditory and scent contact with the newborn during movement.
  • Lightweight Construction: Easy to carry between lambing pens and compact enough for storage in a lambing equipment kit.
  • Fast Animal Placement: Simple sling configuration allows rapid positioning during busy lambing periods.
  • Reusable Farm Tool: Durable textile construction is suitable for repeated livestock handling when properly maintained.
  • Commercial Farm Application: Suitable for sheep farms, goat farms, breeding centers and livestock management projects.
Structural Components
Mesh Support Panel Soft polyester mesh supports the animal underneath the chest and abdomen.
Carrying Handles Long reinforced textile handles allow manual lifting and connection to compatible weighing equipment.
Chest Support Strap Adjustable strap helps keep the animal centered and secure during transport or weighing.
Hook-and-Loop Adjustment Allows fast adjustment of the chest support according to animal size.
Reinforced Stitching Strengthens high-load areas where carrying straps join the mesh support panel.
Working Principle / Structural Principle

The mesh panel is positioned beneath the lamb or goat kid so that the animal's body weight is distributed across the sling rather than concentrated at a single point. The handles are then raised on both sides of the animal and the chest support strap is adjusted to help prevent forward movement.

For manual transport, the operator lifts the sling by the carrying handles. For weighing, the handles are connected securely to a suitable hanging or digital scale and the animal is lifted clear of the floor until a stable weight reading is obtained.

The animal should remain centered in the sling throughout use. If the lamb or goat kid begins to slide or rotate, it should be lowered immediately and repositioned before continuing.
