| Working Principle | The compatible one-piece ear tag is loaded into the upper and lower applicator jaws so that the piercing pin and receiving section are correctly aligned. The sheep is safely restrained and the applicator is positioned on the selected area of the ear. When the handles are squeezed together, the jaws close in a controlled movement. The tag pin passes through the ear tissue and engages with the receiving section of the tag. Releasing the handles allows the return spring to reopen the applicator for removal and preparation for the next animal. Correct applicator and tag compatibility is important because ear tag systems are designed around specific jaw geometry, tag dimensions and locking structures. |

| Installation & Maintenance | No fixed installation is required. Before use, confirm that the applicator is compatible with the selected ear tag and inspect the jaws, spring and pivot mechanism for damage or excessive wear. Load the tag into the applicator according to the correct orientation. The animal should be securely restrained before tagging, and the ear should be checked so major blood vessels can be avoided. The applicator jaws should be cleaned and disinfected according to farm hygiene procedures between animals or groups of animals. Periodically inspect the pivot joint, screws and replaceable jaw components. Keep the applicator clean and dry during storage and replace worn components when accurate tag alignment can no longer be maintained. |
